hey guys, father's day is quickly approaching and i don't know what to get him. he's not really into anything. i thought about getting him a gift card to a restaurant... but in that case, maybe it's better to just give him money. in the end, it just doesn't feel personal.

any ideas? what are you all doing for Father's Day?

Not a damn thing. I'm the father now so It's my turn since I get shit on 364 days a year I get one day of me me me!!😀

First thing is I'm not making the bed. In fact I may rip back the mattress cover on a couple sides so my wife has more work that day. Then I expect breakfast. A pound of Bacon, 8 eggs over easy, fried potatoes, and 32 OZ of OJ fresh squeezed. Then I'm going to open my cheap ass presents from my boys and then leave the house for fishing day with my buddy Dave and drink whiskey all day and tell lies. Then come home and for lobster and crab legs the retire with SO.

That sounds amazing. *looks around for a woman to have kids with*

lol "retire" with SO.

just don't tell too many lies ;-)

I have no idea what to get my dad either.

I'm thinking a shirt or two, but those are just side gifts.

I think I am going to get this for my Pop.

He likes to take his coffee out by the pool in the mornings, and my Mom said he has been taking an old transistor radio out there so he could listen to the news. So this should be cool with the hand crank, he loves stuff like that.

that's pretty cool. i will have to consider that. thanks for the suggestion and great gift for you dad Sluggo.

Get a Life magazine from the year he was born. Get a book of retro pop culture from his formative years. Antique tools. Music, movies....

Yeah, I'm sure that's just what he wants. Old stuff to make him feel old.

That stuffs cool. Who the hell wants a shirt that they didn't pick out themselves? I can count on 1 hand the number of clothing gifts I would have bought for myself. Other than the music/movies, the stuff I listed shows thought and effort. Not just an easy walk to the nearest dept store to buy Chinese sweatshop crap.

I was being semi-sarcastic. But like I said, the shirts are a side gift. They work for my dad because he always needs shirts and he hates clothes shopping. I love getting clothes as gifts for the same reason.

Fair enough. My ideas were really just examples of thinking outside of the box. I have no idea what his father would like, I had a hard enough time buying for my own :^D The point is gifts don't have to be new, or typical. Sometimes with some thought you can come up with something truly unique the recipient will genuinely appreciate :^)
