My son isn't circumcised. I am. I figured that foreskins were evolved for a reason so why make a little baby suffer?

in our culture, circumcision is more of a 'coming of age' thing than it is a religious thing.
boys are circumsized on the average age of 10-12 years old (sometimes a bit older) on their own request. no pressure from parents or anything like that, although of course there are obvious peer pressure by friends (you know how boys are) who are already going through the 'maturing process' (or so we've told).
when i look back, it's actually kind of fun. you know, we actually believed that circumcision is necessary in our growing up process. of course we were afraid, plus the pain after a few days after (these days with technology it's probably only one day) is not exactly something that you want to memorize. but the feeling of pride when you come to school (we usually do it on school break, to have it completely healed before going back to school) and realize that you are now a 'man' (or so we thought) was just priceless. 🙂
i know most people on this forum are against circumcision, and i'm not trying to convince you to believe otherwise. just trying to share a story from the other side of the world.
just wondering, what culture are you? I thought most cultures did a cirumcision during infancy.

Ding ding ding, we have a winner!
EVERY girl I've talked to about the subject, save for one, has said that when they've seen a guy with a uncut penis they've been scared off.

i am from indonesia. in my post i said 'in our culture' instead of 'in my country' because we have hundreds of different cultures and some twenty or so religious beliefs.
anyway, i have never even heard of circumcision during infancy until i got here in the US in 1999. all i know is how circumcision being the process that marks a boy's way into adulthood, and nobody can know better than the boy himself when exactly he's ready and willing to go through the process.

 All of those body parts provide a certain beneficial function, whereas the foreskin does not (you COULD say eroticism and sensitivity, but I can vouch from experience that my penis is extremely sensitive and functions very well in that department, and again, most girls I've talked to... 😉) So in short... you fail at having a point.
I'm happy with my streamlined penis, and you're happy with your penis+skinflap. So we're all happy. There, end of argument. 🙂
I have no trouble seeing his point. You're not aware of the beneficial function of having the foreskin because it was taken from you before you had a chance to know the difference.
A man who had his little finger cut off in an accident as an infant has grown his entire life without it and has learned to function without it. He doesn't miss it becuase he doesn't remember ever having it, but that doesn't mean he hasn't lost some functionality to his hand.
And he doesn't know what it's like to NOT have a foreskin because he's always had it, and yet he dismisses the idea completely, what's your point? I am not dismissing anything.
The man has lost no functionality to his hand, because that functionality never existed for him in the first place. You are simply using a juxtapose with the mechanics of human anatomy.
And hey, I said ARGUMENT OVER! I like crew-neck you like turtle-neck. Just as long as we have shirts, we're okay, you know?
First of all, since the medical benefits have been disproven now, can you agree that there are no medical benefits?
Secondly, i think i can give you a better analogy, the appendix, you don't need that but only a moron would suggest that it is wise to remove it if not neccessary.
ANY surgery poses a significant health risk and if it is not needed (and thus not beneficial) then it is stupid to do it.

After one of my instructors informed me off a condition called phimosis, which he developed at 7yrs old, and the several weeks of pain involved with recovering from surgery - I'll opt to have my son circumcised.
Unless your culture or religion is against it I fail to see the logic in NOT circumcising. I've witnessed this procedure 2 times & both times the baby was calmed within minutes. No trauma, no infection, no brainer.
And for the record I don't care if you penis is cut or not.
