what OS? Have you tried booting in Safe Mode etc? Often this error message comes from a file corrupted during software installation. Repent reboot and try to backtrack. Try a recovery disk, system file checker or similar dependng on your OS.

sorry for not giving my computer details

xp 1700+
asus a7n266 vm
ddr ram 128mb
samsung 40gb sp4002h
OS:win98 SE
etc........

this fatal error occurs ramdomly .when it occurs OS goes to safe mode .again if i boot its normal .

one more problem,
asus pc probe gives these readings :

cpu temp: 48 C
mobo temp:39 C
vcore:1.632
+12v:12.16
+5v:4.511
+3.3v:3.328
cpu fan:5000rpm

r these readings ok ?
these readings r under normal usage conditions.

boot to safe mode. if that don't work... it's either bad hardware or screwed OS.

This is a problem. Your power supply is flaky, though that's only one possible source of the issue.

oops ! sorry its not 4.511 ,its 4.811.

do u recommend me to change the power supply unit ?.

are the variations in the readings ok or will i face any problem ?

thats it .
