Well... Here goes. I managed to dig up a couple of informative pieces of information for you that might help with the problems that you are having. You might want to make sure that you are comfortable with editing the registry before you do any of this. I would think that there is a problem with the registry on your machine and that's why you are having the problems. This might take a while but it's worth it if you aren't willing to reformat and install.

This link will give you information on removing all TCP/IP entries in the regsitry. Be very careful on this one and make sure that it's you or someone else that knows the consequences of editing the registry.

This link is an article on general network trbouleshooting that you might see something that you didn't think of in the first place.

This link is an article that lists ALL of the TCP/IP files that would need to be removed to guarantee a clean installation of TCP/IP.

This link will be needed if you are running orginal 95 retail or you are running OSR1. This will need to be done to update you winsock layer.

I would apply the last link if your windows is an old version (if any version of 95 can be called new). If that doesn't workI would suggest that you remove the TCP/IP protocol from the machine. Remove all of the registry keys, then remove all of the files before you reinstall the protocol again. This should reset everything for you in the network area. Hope this information helps just a little.
