Maybe you did. :) I never had any concept of invincibility. I always had a presence of mind that said I was vulnerable to damage from any number of hazards. Even when it came time to learn to drive, I was hesitant. I didn't do it until I was 18, when my parents basically forced me to learn to drive. I was quite nervous about it. I'd never controlled anything so massive before, and certainly not at such high speeds. Then there were the multiple sources of incoming information to worry about - other vehicles moving around, road signs, traffic signals, controlling the car, etc. It was a quite daunting task to deal with, and I wanted no part of it. Even now that I've been driving for almost 8 years, I still don't really care for it.

It sounds like you are making driving much more complicated than it needs to be. If you aren't comfortable doing it, then you are a danger to others on the road. I think this is how most women feel. I hate driving with my wife because she is just a bundle of nerves behind the wheel, and makes everyone else in the car nervous because of it.

Sounds like you had a *very* sheltered upbringing. Probably explains your post count too.

WTF? Did someone merge two alcohol poisoning articles? 44 shots of tequila? 25 shots of schnapps?

sorry about that.

does this help at all?

That's some crazy shit though. They're not gonna have a great argument as it only takes common sense to know that 20+ shots of anything it's a damned ridiculous amount of alcohol to have in a short amount of time.

They never said 25 shots. They said 25 rounds. It's entirely possible several "rounds" were double shot. That still doesn't explain the tequila vs schnapps though.

Kids are stupid and part of growing up is pure luck. Luck that you fell down the stairs but didn't break your neck. Luck that you jumped off your roof and landed in 1 piece. Luck that you started that fire full of WD40, fireworks and gun powder and no one died (yet the firemen kept asking what the fuck was in this fire pit). Luck that you never got in an accident driving drunk. Luck that nobody you fought ever pulled out a gun and opened fire. Or luck that you passed out before you drank yourself to death.

Luck and stupidity are part of life. But someone has to be unlucky, congrats 16 year old.

Sure they are. But 44 shots would be nearly 2 liters, and even 25 shots would have been well over a liter. Most kids aren't THAT stupid. I'm amazed the kid didn't throw up or pass out much earlier.

I can do it just fine, and have avoided a few accidents by being overly aware of what other drivers are doing, to the point of watching how they inch a car forward at an intersection, the angle of their wheels, which direction the drivers are looking, and body language. I've braked for someone pulling out at a stop sign, because I could see that she was pulling out without looking my direction. I've slowed slightly because I saw someone making a left turn while unable to see me approaching, as the view to me would be blocked by other traffic. Various instances like that I think show that being really alert to as much as possible is a good thing.

I'm just saying that, as a new driver, the amount of goings-on around the car was a bit overwhelming.

My post count per day is only twice what yours is. That's not too excessive. :p
As a baby, my mom didn't even take me shopping until I was about 5 weeks old. She was worried about anything happening to me. I also tended to shelter myself a lot. I didn't like going outside too much - airplanes flying over freaked me out because of the noise, I didn't like bug bites, poison ivy, or thorns in the summer, or the cold in the winter. I also wasn't especially sociable. I preferred interacting with adults because they weren't so damned childish, as my peers were. (You know, because they were children.)
I was never a risk taker, either, and I was always conscious of dangers.

That article is poorly written. First off, it says there were 25 rounds of drinks, well, that makes 25 shots for the boy. Where they got the 44 number is beyond me? It says tequila in the title, yet says schnapps later in the article. I don't think the person who wrote the article has a clue what went on.

Hopefully it involves a locked room, baseball bats and the kid's family.

You're right. That kids family needs to be beaten for producing such a dumbass. They should have raised him better than that. And now the bartenders livelihood is in danger because of them and their stupid kid.

If I were that kid's parents, someone's getting kidnapped and IV'ed with moonshine.

Who would you kidnap? The person at fault is already dead.

Lets create general and far reaching laws that effect everyone because of an irresponsible and stupid bartender.

The stupid bartenders shoulder the majority of the blame.

26 shots vs 44?

your title is wrong or the article does not know WTF its talking about

The article says he slipped into a coma after 26, but took down at least 44. WTF?

And damn, how the hell did he even take down that many? He should've passed out before then. He must've had a BAC of .5 or something.

Maybe you did. :) I never had any concept of invincibility. I always had a presence of mind that said I was vulnerable to damage from any number of hazards. He's been here since 2001. And he's somewhat right. But being a sop at the wheel isn't the best thing either.
