Swimming is by far the best form of exercise in my opinion.
When I was a fat teenager I swam around 250 pool lengths every day on the swim team and lifted 3 days per week. I was about 6 feet tall and 220 pounds beginning high school, by the end of high school, I was an inch or 2 taller and around 250 pounds...
Yes, I was stronger and in much better shape in terms of heart health and aerobic endurance, however, still was "the fat kid."
Its possible to lose weight, that is called starvation, and I dont like it at all.
