i have this IBM Deskstar 20GB DPTA-372050
it is from my old computer that had win 98 so it runs FAT File system
now on my new computer i run xp with a WD JB 60 GB NTFS
i have the WD on my Primary IDE as the Master the jumper is set to Cable Select
and the old IBM is on the Secondary IDE Slave

it boots up fine when i had them both on Primary IDE it would keep running the IBMs OS (Win98) but i turned it off before win98 launched
i had the IBM as a Slave and the WD as a Master i dont get that

here is the more important question
i got it working with XP and i go into windows explorer and it isn't there
so i checked out Disk Management it says its a Primary Partition the WD is Disk 0 and the IBM is Disk 1
so it knows its there it says its running fine i dont get it
do i have to convert it to a Dynamic Disk?
Cause it says i wont be able to run the OS from that anymore is this true
if i slap it back in the old comp will win98 still work?

Thanks for Readin the long message :)
Please help

That would be true. If you convert it to NTFS.

Win98 can only read FAT(16, 32) hard drives. Win98 can NOT read NTFS.

should be able to transfer from the xp os to the 98disk files you want to get over there.
but not the other way. and if you take the 98 disk out it should be ok in the other comp.
