Bit pricey, but man it has been awesome. My cat isn't obese, but he probably would be if a bowl of food was left out 24/7. He was getting fairly chubby so we got this.

Set it up to feed 4 times a day at 6 hour intervals. Also only need to fill it like once every 6 weeks with the large container. Cat gets fixed portions at set intervals. No more waking us up for food at 4am cause he ate an entire bowl in 6 hours and wants more.

No, not at all. Dry only, and actually it can't really be assorted shaped pieces either. Works well with uniform sized and shaped food if you want a consistent amount released every time.

Wet food might work in one of these, but it would probably have to be cleaned a lot and I wouldn't expect the food in there to stay moist for more than 24 hours, maybe not even 12.

Anyone own a obese cat? How do you get them to lose weight? Just feed them a small amount of food per day.

Or is there a special kind of cat food that really works well for weight loss?

There are weight reduction diets out there, some are prescription only like Hill's R/D.

Usually the problem is free-feeding a cat. Find out what it's normal body weight should be and ration out that portion of food for it morning and night.

Tough it out when the cat bitches about eating 🙂

You need to get this under control. The long haired cats will need to have their hair trimmed. Shorter hair cats, maybe not but both hair lenghts will end up getting knots and gross poo-encrusted dingleberries. You will even see the cat drag its ass across carpet in an effort to scratch the swamp ass.

Diet and exercise work and dont really mater the age. We have two cats, one is good about self regulation and the other is ridiculous and food driven. Before I got to know the extent of his food madness, I purchased a bag of cat food and brought it home. Left it on the kitchen floor absentmindedly. We left the house and were gone for not even an hour. The cat had smelled the food, ripped open the thick paper bag and began munching. Ate almost 10 pounds of food in an hour!!!! When we got home, he was bloated and his abdomen was distended. He could barely move. He really looked like those huge snakes that swallow a gazelle and then have to lay around while they digest it.

The problem with this fat cat is that he is so handsome and knows it too. Everyone who meets him wants to feed him. We let him outside and we know he goes to the neighbors and gets fed there. He has no fear for asking for food from strangers and would have no struggles in surviving if ever left on his own. So our solution was to keep him inside and highly regulate his diet. That is the only solution. Play with the cat to exercise him too.

Get your cat some toys that they can run around and play with and also reduce its food intake.

After awhile your cat will shed off some weight and begin to become more active.

Looks like its gonna be some hard work. Controlled feedings, diet food and exercise. I have to use baby wipes on occasion to help clean her ass since she cant do it very well due to her fatness.


Anyone who owns cats, yeah they have clean asses because they use their tongue as toilet paper to clean the anal area. There is no anal cleaning fairy that keeps it clean magically.

Da'bird cat toy is the best by far I've purchased if you're looking for a toy.

One of my cats is too skinny, I try to get him to eat more. The other one is a little chubby, but her weight has remained constant during her first stages of adulthood, thankfully.
