That's genetic. You can't choose where your body deposits its fat. I also have that and I lost 50 lbs before trying to get rid of it. What happened is that most of the muscle left from my upper body and I ended up looking like a smaller version of my previous self. The fat remained there. Sure, there was less of it, but there was less fat and muscle everywhere else, too, so my overall shape didn't change much.

I've been doing this myself, for a vacation in three weeks. Other than continuing to do weights, doing a good bit of cardio, and keeping you calories low, that's the best thing for you. Realize that after several days of this in a row you'll get a tighter look, but one day of slacking off can bloat you right out, so you'll look appreciably worse on your 2nd day of vacation than the first. You wouldn't believe how much difference a pro bodybuilder will look the day after their competition, once they've started to eat more. If I've been dieting for maybe four days in a row and then eat a good bit one day, it will seem like I put on at least five lbs because I look a hell of a lot softer after that eating.

In three weeks you can't lose more than three lbs of bodyfat without seriously hitting your muscle mass anyway.

The guy who did atkins and killed 15 lbs in two weeks...that was muscle, fat, and mostly water/glycogen. It's mostly temporary, fake weight loss, which will immediately regain upon eating a few good meals.

Personally I think your current approach is pretty good. Double your cardio if you want.

did you only measure one body part?

my trainer measured me in 3 different body parts; something like back of arm, front of thigh and side of body.

Now I know that Adkins is not healthy, but would it be safe to use for a few weeks, just to lose a few lbs of fat? I already run too much, lift weights to often, and cut all the junk out of my diet. And I have lost some weight. But I am headed to mexico in a few weeks, and I would like to trim down and look a little better before I go.
I am not talking 20lbs, just like 5 or so. May'be more if I can. But I would like it to be fat.
I could up the cardio, and drop the calories a bit more, but I think I am taking in too little as it is.
May'be up the weights?

I have heard drinking a alot of water can help you lose some weight, but just water weight.
As it is, all I drink it diet coke, water, skim milk occasionally, and every so often, black coffee no sugar no cream.

Any ideas?

Keep doing what you're doing, maybe up the cardio a bit if you're able. Atkins isn't safe though. Diet and exercise is the best.

I strongly recommend eating 1 light meal per day.

And working out at the same time. It's hard to do, but I lost over 60 pounds that way and took a few months to regain muscles, and now I feel great.

Don't worry too much about that. If you're burning more carbs later, that's still energy your body no longer has, and has to find from fat. If you introduce running in the morning and later, you'll drop more weight, but be wary it could be some muscle because you'll be going at it quite hard with few calories.

Without pictures it's difficult for people to say whether you're too skinny or not. I imagine you do need more muscle, but this late in the game you can't get any, so any enhancement to your appearance will only be possible through fat loss.

That's literally like gang-raping muscle mass having only one meal/day!

BTW, the fat loss forums over at bodybuilding.com may be of help. Realize that skilled bodybuilders have mastered the approach to achieve appearance for a certain day. But, like I said, you're gonna fall apart after your first day of vacation anyway...the better you go in, of course, the better you'll do, but a few hearty meals and you'll soften right up.

I find that I exercise more when I'm on vacation because I'm not a) sitting in front of a computer for 8 hours a day and b) I'm usually in a place that I want to go out and do more stuff.

My wife likes to pick places that have a gym facility so we often trade off watching the offspring and working out which is nice.

Damn! I normally do nothing like that on vacation, though I always think I may want to...
