Fastest way to charge phone?

I have a samsung galaxy S2. I noticed from full on dead battery it takes 4-5 hours to fully charge with the wall charger and like half a lifetime from the USB charger(like 6-10 hours). The stock wall charger is 700ma.

Is getting faster charge times as easy as finding a more powerful wall micro USB tip charger? Can i just buy a 1500ma wall charger plug it into my phone and have it charge faster?

The phone limits charge current to about 700ma so even a 2 amp charger won't be faster. This helps the battery last longer overall. USB limits to around 330ma. A charging cord just has the 2 data pins shorted.

If you're a heavy user and find yourself recharging a lot, consider using a second battery, so you can just remove and replace. One advantage of not having an iPhone. 🙂

I too have a SGS2, and I found out that Samsung doesn't allow fast charging on purpose. My solution is a battery charger and I flip batteries.

And then when you finally get home you gotta charge TWO batteries. 😛

Coming from a digital camera with super crappy battery life, having two batteries doesn't make it much better, it just becomes a pain in the butt of juggling batteries.

I agree this is an option but the case i use makes it hard to access the battery.

If i root the phone can i reprogram it to at least allow like 1000ma of charge? I know one of my old sony phones took 1100ma charging and that battery lasted 3 years so im not super worried about battery life, if i need to swap batteries every 6-18 months im 100% ok with that to get faster charges.

Which version of the Galaxy S2 do you have?
Mine takes ~3 to 3.5 hours charge from zero to full using the stock wall charger(which came with an adapter for US sockets).

I don't know if mine being the European Galaxy S2 version with an adapter has anything to do with it.
I'm not an engineer and have lost all knowledge learned in Physics about AC/DC and such 10 years ago so someone else figure out this conundrum.

Mine is the international version. It came with a 2 piece wall charger that had a normal plug then a cord with a micro usb at one end and some wierd 2 round prong connector at the other end that clips into the wall plug.

Interesting...That's exactly how mine is as well.

I bought the 3500mAh battery for my SGS2. It hasn't arrived from Amazon, and I'm sure it will take my feather-light phone and turn it into a brick, but at least the battery will last for as long as I need it to.

I thought about that but then the phone wont fit in any cases.
