The fastest affordable new truck would be a short bed regular cab 2wd Ram 1500 with the Hemi, limited slip, and 3.92 gear, heavy-duty cooling.

Curb weight is 4635. Sticker is about $22500. According to edmunds.com it should cost $15811 after rebates and adjusted for normal discounts. ($4500 rebate)

My own Ram is similar except mine is 4wd and long bed, which adds about 500 lbs. It's fast for such a big vehicle, and it's got great ride and handling.

What would the 0-60 be on this? Sounds like a kickass deal man.

Motor Trend tested one at 0-60 in 6.8, but there's had the 20 inch wheels and extra weight from other options which would make it a bit slower and I don't know what rear gear they had, so i would guess 6.2 seconds to 6.8 seconds for one optioned like I suggested.

I can't seem to get Edmunds to give me any pricing info on a 03 or 04 Ram with a Hemi, only the 6 cylinder and the 4.7 :| But I checked some online ads in Dallas, one dealer has a 03 Reg. Cab Hemi for 15,997! (Loss leader I think) So you are right. Oh btw, I originally mentioned he get the Hemi Ram first :p

26a is the 5.9, 29a is the 5.7 Hemi..and I was looking at 2003's maybe that's the rebate difference.

edit- yea, the option packages have changed. the 2003 Hemi is 29a, and that's the one with $4500 rebate.

for 2004 Hemi is 26a, 5.9 apperently discontinued.

Better hurry !:D

I'm a happy lightning owner. From light to light, it will own a C5, SS, Z28, or TA. Get on the highway, and they will straight up embarass you. It's still a REALLY fun truck. Not a daily driver though. I have an 01 w/ 6000 miles.
