Hello gurus,

Can someone please enlighten me on the fastest PIII or Celeron processor known to work in an Abit BX6 rev 2.0 motherboard with a slocket? This mobo has a 440BX chipset. Thanks.

Go to the BX6 2.0 BIOS page on Abit's site for the latest flash. It says it supports the PIII-700 (100 MHz FSB) and the Cele 600 (66 MHz FSB). :)

I'd say any slot Intel cpu pre-CUmine ought to work. CUmine should work too, but I'd find it hard to believe there existed any BIOS flash for it seeing as how this is among the first of about 6 BX iterations from ABIT.

You can put any 100 MHz FSB CuMine CPU in it including the 1.1 GHz Celeron and PIII. You can also run 133 FSB models, but your AGP slot will be out of spec @ 89 MHz.

As I said you *probably* could, but its always a risk when your BIOS doesn't explicitly support it.
