Can someone tell me which is the fastest proc. posible on a ASUS P2B.
At the moment i'm using a PII 350MHz which is the first proc. with a 100MHz busspeed. Now i want to upgrade and like to have the fastes proc. for this motherboard. (i'm not a tweaker so i need the fastest standard proc. and if i need to tweak tell me how)
Thanx Ezek2517:confused:

You can use any Intel processor with a 100MHz FSB, or if you don't mind the AGP being out of spec at 89MHz, you can also use 133MHz FSB processors. Multiplier is NOT an issue, since all Intel processors are mutliplier locked, and they will ignore whatever setting your motherboard has and use its own multiplier.

You must have the latest BIOS, either 1012 Final or 1013 Beta 007.

Depending on the revision of the board, you may or may not need to do a bit of tweaking for it to work. if you have PCB rev 1.12, it already has support for Coppermine voltages. Earlier revisions may not. In such cases, you need to use a slotket with an FC-PGA processor, and set the slotket to manually request 1.80 volts, which is the lowest that boards as far back as rev 1.02 can handle. This voltage is fine for Coppermines, and assists greatly in overclocking should you want to. If you do not set the voltage manually on the slotket, the system will not boot.

here is the site I found with a how to and confirmed successes by rev. # http://www.ctechnet.com/hardware/asus.htm#50500
I was going to do this myself I have a p2b and putting 800mhz in is very tempting, but 200+ bucks for chip and slocket is too much dough.
the p2b will be maxxed out. A athlon and board cost the same as a p3800. I am going to hold out a little while for the ddr boards and then upgradeto that. Intel is just charging too much for thier chip to even make a simple cpu upgrade cost effective.

I own a P2B-F also with a Celeron 366 @550Mhz - I was thinking of upgrading it, but opted to buy the KT7 and T-Bird instead. My wife has the P2B now and she will be passing it to the kids when I build a new DDR board later this year. It's not worth putting any more money into that board as great a board as it is.

Thanx for yours reply.
I just did it. I read the article about overclocking the asus P2B with a celeron 633 and an ASUS slotket. check it here
The store didn't have a celeron 633 but they still had one celeron 600 left. I bought it with a golden orb cooler and a ASUS S370-DL Slotket.
I installed the stuf without touching my jumpersettings on the ASUS P2B motherboard (REV 1.02)-> 100MHz FSB! I started up the engine and i was running a Celeron 600@900MHz. Dit some playing in Quake (for 13 hours!!)and runs 100% stable. Still can put my fingers on the cooler...
Very cheap upgrade from PII 350 to Celeron600@900Mhz :D

Another happy newbie overclock. Congrats and enjoy. I loved my P2B and miss it still. Such a solid board. BTW I was able to run a C2 566 at 1024 on that board.
