I was 7th in line at a ticket center for the Atlanta tool concert. I didn't get tickets. The show sold out in 20 seconds. There were no internet sales. Just the venue, phone and ticket center locations. That has to be a record.

I am not happy. What got me was that I was first in line standing at the ticket center since 2:00pm today. 20 Minutes before the tickets were to go onsale, they decided to do a lottery for position. I ended up being the 7th person. The first three people got tickets.

Holy crap, how many sites were they selling at? How many were available?

Garth sold either two or three shows in a couple hours when he came to Portland, but 20 seconds is nuts.

It was similar for a Nine Inch Nails show I went to once (on their Fragility 2.0 tour)...but it certainly wasn't 20 seconds! The floor tickets sold out in about 20 seconds but the entire concert took 15-20 minutes I think.
20secs...well, it's Tool. I'm not very surprised :)

You see, my belief is that if I go to <5 concerts a year and spend mucho $$ on great tickets (usually from a ticketing agency) it's much more fun than going to 20 concerts a year and getting cheap seats. But then again, that's fun also. It just depends on whether you want to see a lot of concerts with bad seats or see only the bands you truly love and have excellent seats.
