I've been out of the computer scene for a while so I'm not too familiar with the new (by now old) Intel processors comming out. I was hoping to pop a 1.0 ghz tualatin celeron in my Abit BE6 and clock it up to 1.3ghz, but I'm not sure it will work.

My board has a Intel 815E (ICH2) chipset and is supposed to support 1.0ghz celerons and 1.53ghz coppermines with the newest bios update. The official word is that it needs an 815-B chipset because of lower voltage, but has anyone actually tried it in an older 815E?

If you're sure it won't work, what other cpu options do I have?

Thanks for any info,

I just have a 700 runing at 933 in my BE-6. When I first bought the board it would only run a 600 and I flashed the bios to runn a 933. I thought the BE6 would only run up to a 1ghz.

Jop...you will have to mod a Tualatin to fit in your board...but it pays, believe me ;)

I recommend a Celeron-T for cheap price and good overclockability (100MHz FSB) over a PIII-T.

Good luck
