Fastest cpu for Gigabyte P45 DS3L

I have a 6400 doing 3.44 stable. After looking at all of the benchmarks, I still can't decide. Is it worth going quad if I want to run this rig for another year? I have a 280 GTX, 2x2 gb mushkin ddr2, Vista 64 and a 74gb raptor for games. Far Cry 2 runs ok at very high and 2x msaa but yeah, just ok. Looking like it is starting to get old now lol.

What would you do with around $200?

so other than FC2, what do you do on your computer? Sure, it might be nice, but if you can get away for another year, just save your money for a new rig in 2010.

Otherwise, just pick up a E8500 if you just game and OC. Maybe a Q9550 if you want to splurge.

FC2 is just my current benchmark is all. I am seeing very normal frames for my rig but since I have some $$ now, I am looking to ensure that my pc will be able to run games at high settings for another year at least. I doubt it will in the current config but do not want to sli unless I have to.

Just looking to spend a reasonable amount which allows for my single 280gtx to fully run.

buy the best quad you can afford, you will not regret it. i did the same thing going from a E6600 to a Q6600 GO that i am overclocking.

Don't go for i7 at this time. It's way too expensive for the performance it gives. Your rig is great for gaming. If your $ are itching you , you could go for Q9550.

I bought tman's 9450. Next up is a gpu that runs quiet, cool and is faster than my 280 gtx....Might be awhile lol.

Really love this Giga P45 though. Best mobo I have ever had. The oc'ing software they use is amazing.
