Fastest and Best Burner

Hey I was wondering if I could get some help on selecting a burner out of the following which are available on the web for under $100...which makes me think if they are really worth it.
I have the software, I just need to know which one is better They are :

1)NEC NR7900A [24x10x40x] ~ {$73 @USSA.com}
2)Mitsumi [24x12x40] ~ { $ 68 @ USSA.com}
3) TEAC [24x10x40] $83
4) SONY [24x10x40] $82

I am really time pressed to buy a burner but I dont know anything about these and you guys really need to help me out. Please dont con me , someone in Sharky told me to buy a totally useless burner and so I am back trying to buy a new one. Hopefully 24x

the fastest is the liteon 24102B...it will burn 24x on almost any media..though real cheap crap is always a problem..excellent for pc backups too

stay away from the sony. I posted a question before xmas about their quality and had lots of negative replys. BUT the price was so low I couldnt resist. I should have listened to everyones advice 🙁 Wish I had the Lite-on now.....

It's a pretty good burner but it will certainly not burn 24X on almost any media according to reviews. Many other drives are rated better for media support.

The retail version of the burner will burn all media at 24x, however the OEM model doesn't...

first off I will beg to differ with Eug and Paulson...first there is no difference in the hardware between oem and retail...
The cdrlabs is an old review ...the updated firwmware has allowed for much better performance with cdr media...

there are several people who have tested a ton of different media and found the 5s07 firmware burns most at max speed...I am not saying 8/10x media...but some 12x...many 16x/20x media...this was reported by a user who did extensive testing with numerous cdr medai...he is at cloneclinic....

the plex 2410 is terrible with media not rated at 24x I had one...with 16x fujifilm(that was rebadged as 24x ..with a sticker over 1-16x) that the liteon would burn at 24x(btw these are taiyo yuden media) it burned only 16x....

these is no overall better burner for the money...yes maybe the plex is better quality but the media crap makes it value drop to me...

Liteon writes almost any pc protection...most if not all cd audio protection(including cactus shield)..has excellent DAE ....

Price is great...
