Fastest 533 hyperthreaded cpu ?

I doubt Intel will go all the way to 3.5 GHz with their .13 process.

I think it was Ace's that said the 3.06 GHz P4 had a max power of over 100W, closer to 110W, what would a 3.5 GHz P4 land at? 125W?
Thats a whole crapload of power for a desktop CPU.
 
Excuse me, but I believe that the 2.0 had a max power of around 60. You're telling me that 3.0 has a hundred? Processor power output doesn't scale linearly, so that would be a very rare occurance, even if that 50 watt figure was average/nominal.

Thermal design power 81.8 watts, that would put 3.5 at no more than 100.
 
Well, the 2.0 .18 P4 had ~100W max power.
According to Sandpile the 2.8 GHz non-HT P4 has ~85W max power.
And looking at this article at Ace's, it looks like the 3.06 GHz P4 has a max power of ~105W.

Nevertheless, the enormous amount of electrical current that the 3 GHz P4 requires will bring many motherboards and PSUs to their knees. This is probably the reason why we won't see the 3.2 GHz version arriving soon, as Intel will lower the power dissipation of its cores before moving to higher speeds. But right now, the current 3 GHz parts require 1.55V core voltage, and it is the most demanding processor of all. Intel has therefore reduced the recommended maximum processor ambient temperature from 45 °C to 42 °C and recommends 4 phase voltage regulators.

I think Intel and AMD should mark 50W as a good target for their future CPUs. I'm really satisfied dropping back to an XP1700+ TBred, from a Palomino XP1800+, to cut the thermal disipation by 38%. I'm surprised more people aren't making the jump. 100W is just insane!
