For anyone wanting to get Fasterfox working on the new Firefox you need to do the following below:

- Save the xpi Installer on your disk
- http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla...sions/fasterfox/fasterfox-1.0.3-fx.xpi (You may have to open that link in IE to download)
- open fasterfox-1.0.3-fx.xpi with Winzip etc (you could also rename the .xpi extension to .zip and open it with Windows 'Compressed (zipped) folders')
- Extract and then edit the file install.rdf (with notepad etc)
- Search for "1.5.0.*"
- Change that to "2.0" (Be sure to remove the .0.* and ONLY have 2.0 or it will not work)
- Save the file, then add it back to the fasterfox-1.0.3-fx.xpi file.
- Drag & drop fasterfox-1.0.3-fx.xpi into the "Add-on-Manager"
- Restart Firefox

Enjoy!

That window that pops up. Click and drag the .xpi file into that window.

Thanks for the pointers BS911. I got it in just a couple of minutes. I had just been waiting for the official 2.0 version, but this was just as easy.

First time I've used this....it's pretty amazing how much faster things load. BTW, I DL a finished version of the fix that someone else uploaded. I don't know how you would extract this, which creates multiple files/folders, and then put it all back together in one .xpi file.

I just dragged and dropped the install.rdf file into the xpi while it was "open"

why dosent one person just fix the file and have a direct download instead of everyone editing it them selfs ? not to sound lazy but wouldnt it be alot easier to just have the file ready rather than post instructions ?

A small request for all the Fasterfox users:

Please DO NOT check "Enable Enhanced Prefetching", this option will silently download all linked pages in the backgound even if you do not see it. This drastically increases the bandwidth costs for the website owner. Think of it from a point of a freeware publisher who spends a part of his income to host the website.....

I'll send you the file if you'd like to host it.

I would like to ask this: When I use Firefox 2 to check out my hotmail account. Why can't it render the small graphics. It just simply collapses the graphics or leaves them undrenderd (with the broken image icon). I need help, thanks.
