Faster RAM or more RAM?

I'm wondering if it would be better to have 1gb of fast RAM or 2gb's of slower RAM?

Also, if i had a choice, would you go with one stick of 1gb (cas3) or two sticks of 512 (cas2.5)?

This is for upgrading an older DDR system btw..
 
If you want to use Dual Channel, 2 x 512MB. But upgrade ONLY if you really need it.

If you are not playing games or using high memory demanding applications, stick to 1GB, and upgrade to the complete brand new system - when you are ready.
