I currently have an Abit NF-M2S MB with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ cpu.
What faster cpus can I get for this MB?
The system currently has L1 Cache of 128 KB and an L2 Cache of 512 KB. Is this a function of the MB or the cpu?
Can the caches be increased? If so, how?

Thanks

Welcome to the forums !

While you might be able to find a faster CPU, they are getting expensive. I would recommend a new motherboard/cpu/memory. You can get a Fry's combo and a 2 gig memory kit for $100 or so.

Cache is the cpu. Intel has some cpus with 8 megs of cache; they're changing to a different socket type soon, so some cpus are being cleared out. Fry's had the e7200 with ecs board for $100 2 weeks ago.

Here is Abits list of CPUs that will work in your motherboard.

EDIT: It looks like you can go dual core and increase your CPU clock speed by about 33% for less than $75.
