Faster and better than Cyberwings, $5 webhosting, Unlimited Email, FTP, SSL, Telnet, Real Video/audio, etc. etc.

I was looking for a good hosting providor for a while and tried out numerous, after my ordeals with craphost (dreamhost) and others, I tried www.webulex.com.

They have a $5 hosting package which is actually worth getting as it's quick, reliable (no downtime yet), and easy to setup. The $5 hosting package is here:
http://www.webulex.com/hosting.html#silver

They also provide services like Always on Top in search engines, promotion packages, web design, and free:
full real audio support
cgi bin
https
SSL
Telnet
Anon. FTP
unlimited Emails & Users control panel
Fully automated control panel
shopping cart
MySQL, and so fourth.

Tell me what you think.

that's $5 a month if im not mistaken. dixiesys offers $3.95/mo i think. a lot of AT people have hosted their service there and it appears to be reliable. 'course you cant beat cyberwings at 33 cents a month. of course the service is a little shaky/shady now, but we'll see where it goes. can't buy anything nowadays for 33 cents anyway. =)

Dixiesys also has a promotional offer for the month of July:

(start ad)
From now until the end of July, Dixiesys is celebrating Independence Day by giving you 2 for 1 on all new Web Hosting and Reseller Orders! Just sign up for 2 and pay for 1 or sign up for 1 and get double the normal package!

For Domain Reseller plans, simply double your payment amount ($25 gets you the $50 plan and $50 gets you the $100 plan)!
(end ad)

So basically, if you sign up for the 3.95$ a month deal, u'd normally get:

We have several different plans to meet your web hosting needs, all of our plans include:
Plesk Control Panel
www.YOURDOMAIN.com hosting
Apache Web Server
MySQL Databases
Perl-script ready CGI-BIN
PHP4
FTP Access
IMAP/POP3/SMTP
Email forwarders/autoresponders/groups
Web Mail

Plan Name Storage Transfer Emails Subs DBs
Small Site 200 megs 3000 megs 20 2 2

So under the deal, u'd essentially get 400megs of storage, 6000megs of bw, 40 emails, 4 Subs, and 4 DBS, which is a pretty nice deal for $3.95 a month or $40 for the entire year (2 different plans, i know 4 x 12 != 40)

I am quite impressed with dixiesys services. I've been looking for hosting for my site and this looks great that cyberwings thing was too shady for me. Also I've found quite too many Paypal paid hosting sites.

Kamazon,
How long have they been up for you?
me personally about a week! I worked with dremahost and cyberwings, both went down for 'server maintenance'. However, my friend who recommended them has been with them for over a year now.

Those are some good deals you posted with dixiesys, hwoever do they have the PLESK or ENSIM live interface or do you have to write them to make the changes? With Webulex all changes are made on the fly by you in a good user interface, or you can write them...Plus they have Instant Messaging support. Hows the dixiesys support?

If you want a reliable web hosting company which is also a great value then I also recommend checking out Dixiesys.com esp with their current July 2 for 1 sale.

WEll, Webulex.com is down right now. Not exactly a good sign.

Go with Dixiesys.

I'm going to try Dixiesys, but webulex hasn't been down nor has my sites. I just checked the statistics.
Are you sure you went to www.webulex.com?

the site is up, but they only offer 1gig of bandwidth. usually, for 100megs of space, you can get at least 2gigs. but if you don't have a bandwidth intensive site, it'd be worth a try.

I signed up with dixiesys almost 24 hours ago and still haven't received my welcome email? no replyon my help ticket either.I thought they were supposed to be super fast. I read somebody got his welcome email in 3 hours????

Just because one person receives their welcome e-mail within 3 hours doesn't mean that'll happen for everyone everyday. I received mine the next business day. Take a chill pill and call Dixiesys.com at 1-888-795-6720 and ask them the current status.

the voicemailbox is full --and has been for days --since thier 'move'

Since I can't reach anyone at dixie, I posted to find out WHAT IS THE NORMAL setup time period-- when I gave them the credit card they said "12 hours- and mostly they are faster than that" (paraphrasing).

I saw someone had posted about DixieSys in the CW thread and checked them out. After much deliberation (5 minutes) I decided to sign up. That was at 12:11 AM Wednesday. I got the "You are setup" e-mail at 3:35 AM (I was in bed). Pretty fast. With the deal going on right now for the month of July this is awesome. I might switch my mom's site to Dixie at the end of the month. Their forums are pretty helpful also.

overclock--
yeah that was you I was talking about with the 3 hour setup. 😉

I got the personal $20/yr deal. Maybe that is lower on the priority list than teh type of account you got.
well, i hope they don't becme a CW.

nolamerz,
Rest assured.
Dixiesys is "new" and going through expectable growing pains.
Don't worry, even a bit.

Their phone (toll free) is down 'til the 10 - 14 day switch over period is finished.

Until that, they've posted:

Seriously, any delay is annoying, but it will pass quickly.

A satisfied Dixiesys customer.

Please remember that the hosting companies that actually offer unlimited or even unusually large amounts of badwidth, always have clauses in their fineprint, that somehow restricts the customer from using the full advertised bandwidth.

Also bandwidth is an expensive commodity. If your host offers large amounts of bandwidth without charging extra for it, be sure that they are cutting the corners somewhere else like in customer support or access speed.

Just to clarify, Webulex offers outstanding customer support as well as access times usually below 80ms.

This thread was brought to our attention by one of our valued customers and we thought we should clarify the matter.

Sincerely

The Webulex Team

I just signed up for a Dixiesys Medium Reseller account and received my Welcome E-mail in less than one hour! The user interface is exactly like Cyberwings, the Plesk interface. Even with name-server propogation delays, I was actually able to see my site once again within 12 hours!

Dixiesys is a lot more expensive than Cyberwings, but it has the advantage of actually being up.

Those who haven't signed up with dixiesys, keep in mind that they don't offer telnet or ssh, which I consider to be a crippling shortcoming. Where's the command line lovin!?

I've been hosting several sites with dixiesys for almost 6 months. The one time I did notice a problem with one of them, they were already aware of the problem and working to fix it. They have been extremely reliable and the support is some of the best I have received. You can't go wrong hosting with them.

Well, I did a lil investigative journalism if you will, and Dixie's phone has been out for the past couple of days. Now that doesn't completely rule them out but makes you think. And I read a thing on their forums that the owner moved to a different county so he couldn't transfer the 888 number with him on time!!! What kinda BS is that?

The whole thing sounds a tad shady if you ask me.
