FAST WRITES ISSUE

hi i cant seem to be able to turn fast writes ON! even tho i could turn them on and off with older drivers. i have the CAT 3.9's and a 9500pro.

is this something to worry bout or are fast writes one of those novelty/ useless features?

They're pretty much useless now. A lot of problems seem to arise with ATI cards and fastwrites.

The speed increase is very small with fastwrites on ,however you`ll get better stability with fastwrites off which I recommend for maximum stability.

www.firingsquad.com has an article where they benchmark call of duty with a bunch of ATI cards. One of their tests was to compare fastwrite on vs off and there was almost no change.

Fast write is really stupid, you shouldn't even worry about it. In fact you should just turn it off and leave it off. The performance increase is not noticeable at all and sometimes could actually slow your system down. Leave it off for better stability.
