Fast site to download from

A few whiners (some people would call them "users" 😉 ) in a certain building on my campus are complaining that the internet connection to them is too slow. I want to test by downloading a fairly large file (10+MB) from somewhere on the Internet. I've already tested the connections by using an FTP server on our network, and have been getting good speeds (best was 11,218KB/sec). I think the users are just whining, but I'd like to be through and check it out. So, anyone know of a server that will give me at least 300KB/sec reliably?

Cliff's Notes: I want a fast server with a 10+MB file to use for testing purposes. Dont care what the file is, as long as the content wont get me fired.

download the 700mb hl2 video from e3 on fileplanet. i was hitting 3 mb/s for a while on my apt line.

ATI.com's driver download sites always caps the connection I'm on.

I've gotten 1MByte/sec from them at school on the residential 10Mbps connection.

You can give this are try. Its on my server at The Planet on a 100mbps port. You should easily be able to get over 5 MB/s if your connection if good enough.

Its full of wallpaper images, btw 😀 = Not those that will get your fired 🙂

jeasus i dont even get that transfering between comps on my home lan

ive never gotten over 1meg/sed downloading fron anyplace on any connection

that being said try downloading a linux ISO, or a big torrent of some kind

Since you have a good connection may I ask you what speed you are getting from my server?

I just pulled 440KB/sec from your server. I just got 990KB/sec from minendo's server. I'm in Ohio, I dont know where the respective servers are.
