Fast/fun to drive, reliable automobile for 2k?

I'm being serious.

Obviously it's going to be an older model, late 80s?

There we go. Didn't think of that. Thanks.

I'm in the market for a car, but I want something that's a little more than A-B transportation, or I'd just get a 2dr Civic or something.

But, I do want it to be reliable.. I dunno. Maybe I should just get the aforementioned Civic and put the engine in my truck into a 240Z or something.

Nonsense.

I could find a reliable car for 1,000$ or less if I wanted a beater.

80's 300zx

i have an 86 that has been pretty reliable...in the 45K miles i've put on it, i had to replace the mass air meter, and the alternator...i did the timing belt and some other stuff recently, but that was just 60K service, not like something was broken

t-tops, 5 speed, v6 3000, and it's damn sexy

can't go wrong

Hmm.. Yeah. Cool.

I guess the problem with an older model "fast/fun to drive" car is that it's probably already had the piss beat out of it. 🙁

Untrue. My friend got an Acura for $1,300 two years ago and its had zero problems

One that sells for $2k, yes.

Really about $5k I think is the cut off. You can get reliability for $5k, but not much less.

$2k is a clunker.

None of those cars are reliable.

I know people with cars similar to those but only 4 or 5 years old which have many problems.
You are an idiot. Please come back when you have something to contribute to my thread.

Wow, didn't know Prizm's were so cheap. :Q

theres a reason if anyone wants a reliable cheap first car i will reccomend one. they are better than the Corolla in terms of price and identicle otherwise.

JLGatsby, of all the threads where you serve a point (not many) cars are NOT your strong point, you got WTFPWNED last night in a washing thread, and you will get WTFPWNED if you keep talking cars without knowing anything about them.

just have a mechanic look it over well before you buy

don't just buy the first one you come across

if you buy a non-turbo it's much more likely to have not been raced and driven hard

How's the air up there?

Please know of what you speak about before you open your mouth.

I could find a 500$ car that is reliable if I wanted to. I want a little more than A-B transportation, something fun....

You must have a very loose definition of what is "reliable."
