Fast charge no longer working on S6

Finally got my OS updated a week or two ago, and now my fast charge feature no longer works. Normally with low battery, I could go from 10 - ~25% battery in a matter of minutes. Now, it seems to just charge linearly, and also rather slowly, too. I was at 10% this morning, and now 25 minutes later I am only on 14%

Are any other Samsung/S6 users experiencing this?

Maybe the update turned it off for some reason. Is it toggled in the settings menu (settings -> battery)?

It's on, just looked.

Now since my first post, only at 17 percent.

Are you getting the "fast charging" notification when charging? I'm curious if the phone thinks its fast charging when it's not, or if the fast charging isn't even triggering.

Fast charging only works when the screen is off too, so if you have daydream or something else keeping the screen on, that will prevent the phone from fast charging.

Not sure if I am. What does that look like?

Yes keeping screen off except to check back here every 10 to 16 minutes.

Samsung quality is plummeting. That sucks OP. Quick charge is incredibly helpful. Is this a widespread issue or just you?

I've had nothing but problems with this phone since I got it. Considering dumping it for the 6p or successor this fall.

Ps, what is a typical charge time from barely charged to full? Currently phone days from 18 yo 100 percent would be 5 hours.

Typically it's a clock or something displayed on the screen when it's charging. It should be in Settings-> Display... and there should be "daydream" somewhere there so you can choose what you want to display when you're charging. Or in your case, make sure it's toggled off.

I'm not entirely sure how this would make any difference, but since some people reported it worked I'll share:

Unplug the USB cable from the fast charger that's in the outlet, then unplug the charger itself, then reconnect everything.

Also try with another USB cable if you haven't. Some people are reporting broken pins in their Samsung cables that prevent fast charging.

Cheaper USB cables tend to be flaky with fast charge. I have a few 7ft thin USB charge cables that rarely will let me fast-charge any of my fast-charge devices, and not just samsung, they rarely fast-charge with my LG-V10.

Didn't work.

This has been the cable I've fast charged with in the past, using the same fast charge brick. It's not a cheap cable, it's one of those Fri eq ones that is wrapped in the corded material.

*shrugs* it's an easy check if you have another cable

Everything can break, even the good cables. Not saying your phone doesn't have issues but I'm just running through any solution I've seen that doesn't involve resetting your phone.

Let me see if any of my coworkers have an extra cable. If not, I'll check tonight.

One also noticed even with battery saver on, my phone is draining at an alarming rate. Only when I go into airplane mode does it hold the charge well. I'm thinking this software update did some stuff.

Eh not a waste, sometimes it's good to diagnose these things on the forums so we all can see the solution. Plus you might come back about the battery drain problem :whiste:

My gf just got an update on her S5 and the battery was draining incredibly fast after it. Looked through the battery settings and saw that the Verizon cloud app was by far the biggest offender. I was able to disable it and things went back to normal.

..and if you see major battery drainage, install a wakelock detector to weed out the culprit.
