Fast 1GB DIMM for Athlon64 system???

I have Cl2.5 2x512mb DIMMs now but I need to move up to 2GB ( damn everquest II ).

My problems are two;

1) What is a good choice for 2GB kit?
2) How the heck do I get the memory into Japan when they don't sell any 2GB kits here ( yes I checked ) and U.S companies listed on pricewatch don't ship overseas.

Does anybody have any ideas to offer up?

I have actually read that Everquest does run best with 1.5 GB of ram because of a memory leak issue. I have been debating adding another 512 stick so OP can you tell me how much smoother it runs when you upgrade the memory.

1GB is NOT PLENTY. I had 1.5GB of ram in my system and all was perfect, and then let my sister use my other 512MB stick, so im down to 1GB. My god Doom 3 can be so freaking choppy and swapping like crazy when im running even something as symple as norton and weatherbug in the background.

Also when playing ut2k4 in a 32 player onslaught server, which i do often, whenever I exit, I have to wait at least 10-15 seconds for the system to be usable in windows again. This never happened with my 1.5gb setup.

as for the OP: Just get 2 seperate 1GB sticks of ram. On an athlon 64, the difference between $500 ram and $70 ram of the same capacity is LESS THEN 5% in the most demanding scenario.

Well there is something else wrong than. 1Gig is more than enough. DIII takes up about 500mb of RAM while playing avg in about 300mb worth of programs you are only up to 800mb. Weatherbug sucks resources like no tomorrow man, but still it should not suck that much. Why dont you load up the system then hit ctrl-alt-del and check memory usage. I HIGHLY doubt that it is over 1gig.

Seems to me there is something else wrong with your computer if something like that is happening. I can play Far Cry on close to max detail settings with my PC with S@H, Norton, Steam, AOL-IM, and the NVmixer in the background as well as one or two web windows opened, and i still dont hit 1gig of ram usage.

His system may be fine, sometimes when I run HL2 I look at my performance tab (on the second monitor) and it shows less than 50mb free of physical and over 400mb in page files used (2x512mb Geil setup). Doom 3 seems to run only slightly better now with 1GB than it did with 512mb, but that is based off of 'feel' not benchmarks. Otherwise I have never had an issue now that I am at 1gb, though I have been tempted to add another gig just for the fun of it... 😉

People with only a gig of ram wouldnt notice it, as they are used to the speed it is at. But run 1.5GB of ram or more and do things that actually use it and then go back to 1GB and you will definately notice it. I do multitask alot while playing the games, so that could be why my ram usage is so high.

I run an MSI Neo2 with 4x512mb. Runs stable with Kingston Hyperx 2-3-2-6-T1 sticks. I run at 2T 2-3-2-10 at 200mhz. I've run Prime95 all night and no errors, too.

My Aquamark CPU score is ~9,750. With 1 GB 1T setting it's about 10,400. Athlon64 "3500" processor at stock settings.

Note: I had a Asus Av8 rev 1 board and it was not entirely stable at 200 mhz with 4 sticks. It did run okay at 166mhz, but that was a big performance hit-- cpu score was around 8,500.
