Here are my specs:
CPU: AMD 2500+ Barton 1800MHz
Motherboard: DFI LanParty NFII Ultra
Memory: 1024 MB of Corsair PC2700
Video Card: ATI 8500 LE (ATI Radeon) 128mb ram
Hard Drive: Western Digital 100GB 7200RPM (Running XP Pro)
Hard Drive: Maxtor 30.0 GB @ 7200 RPMS (Running Red Hat 9.0)
Monitor: Sony 18' Flat Screen
DVD Manufacturer & Model: LG 12x
CDR/CDRW Manufacturer & Model: LiteOn 12x10x32x
Storage Interface: IDE
Sound Card: Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer

Here is my problem:

I am attempting to play farcry demo and while it installs fine, the performance is terrible. When I set the game to low quality everything and 800x600 16-bit resolution, the game has the worst performance I have ever seen... I mean it takes about 30 seconds from the time I move to the mouse to where the computer responds and actually changes frames.

Is there anything wrong with my rig or is it just a software config problem because these specs far exceed minumum performance standards but are below reccomended.

Thank you!

Your video card is not suitable for running that intense of a game. What drivers are you using for it. Also Creative Cards and Nforce 2 M/B's dont like each other at all. If you feel like you wanna try OC your CPU that barton is one of the best OCers out there (even tho its not the mobile version)

I run far cry with no problems using a barton 2800+
the issue seems to be yhour graphics card... i know a guy with a 3000+ and 8500 and hes got the same problem you have. far cry will kill your gfx card. i was running it on a ti4600 and it was on mostly low settings and still laggy. got a 9800pro and it runs smooth as butter on 1024x768 with max detail (yeah, i have a small monitor, so anything higher is too small)

Hey, it runs just fine at 800 X 600 on my FX5200 (no slowdowns at ALL...pity about higher res's) and according to the video forum my card is total.......... (insert expletive here).

But then again your cards 100% absolutely total.......... (insert expletive here).

Hmmn, I didn't realize the 8500 series are so crap at Farcry? Can anyone else with the 8500, 9000, 9100 or 9200 offer any input?
