On the recommendation of some sci-fi geeks on this and other forums. I netflixed the Farscape series. Thankfully I didn't order more than one DVD at a time. It's Star Trek meets the Muppets. Horrible! Bring me back a quality series like Firefly instead. Needless to say, I just took Farscape out of my netflix queue.

give it a longer chance, i thought the same thing too but i watched more then a few episodes and realized its a very interesting story once you get past the muppets and cheap costumes.

The first couple seasons of farscape were better than the latter ones.... but it takes getting used to.... I liked it once I got into it... but I havn't seen much of the later seasons....

It's better than the last two Star Trek series would have been if they'd added Muppets to their respective casts.
Seriously, it gets a lot better after the first few episodes. It's no Babylon 5 but it has some epic moments along its arc. Crichton changes from semi-wimp to galactic badass along the way and it's fun to watch the change.
Firefly was also excellent once I gave it a chance and watched it on DVD. I'd put it in the "worst. show. evar" category based on seeing part of "The Train Job" on TV.

Hey, don't make fun, it's my wifes' favorite show.
People (including me) called Firefly crap based on Fox's butchering on TV. Your loss if you give up because of the first few episodes -- a couple of early SG-1 season 1 episodes (like the Planet of Male Chauvinist Barbarians) were pretty bad too.Originally posted by: wyvrn

Try First Wave, though preferably before Jordan and the Resistance came into the story arc. Great show, exec producer is Francis Ford Coppola and they always have the hottest damn female extras.

Episodes 1 and 7 come on the first DVD. 7 was better, but still absolute crap. I like the old reruns of the British sci-fi show that comes on PBS (whats the name?) better than I liked Farscape. Absolute crap.
Firefly was good from the beginning. I watched the entire series and felt like they didn't get a chance to really develop the storyline. There were 9 characters, and you need time to get them all drawn out. I'll be first in line to see the movie.

I loved that episode. The notion that an alien race would build a gladiatorial society around XBox hardware found on a long-dead human colony was sci-fi writing of the highest caliber.
Man, can that Ensign Ro dig.

Not surprising, considering their writers were ripping off episodes of the original Star Trek series by the second episode of TNG.

True for "Season One" (the 4 movies shown in US as Tales from a Parallel Universe). Season 2 - good in parts, 3 - too much Dr. Who pointless running around in tunnels and buildings (would be great edited to 1/4 or less of running time), Season 4 - stupid, at least the first 3-4 episodes.
But tastes vary, I loaded the first movie of season 1 to someone and they ddin't get it at all.
I thought farscape was pretty enjoyable, finished watching that series last year. Some of the costumes are a little cheezy, but overall it was an enjoyable show for the mostpart.
Gotta agree here. The movies rocked very much, kindda went downhill after that. I never saw too much of the latter seasons, though I have to agree that season three was the most pointless, dragging series of any show on tv. Why it made it to a 4th? Oh, as for season 4, try and see some of the very last episodes, there is this one GREAT scene. I caught it just in time to see this obnoxious kid dropped from the top of a missle silo. The little turd even bounces when he hits
I have a friend who liked the series so much he got the whole thing on DVD.
As for on topic, I thought Farscape was great, at least until the final season.
