Farollon Restaurant in San Francisco

Anyone been? I know it's supposed to be excellent... I'm more curious about the actual price range and dress code. The website says nothing about either.

What's really scarey is when you are seated in a high end restaurant, the waiter hands you the menu and THERE AREN'T ANY PRICES ON THE FRIGGIN MENU!

Happened to me once at an extremely fancy French restaurant. I asked the waiter why there weren't any prices and he suggested that I may want to dine at another establishment.

I did.

$20 to $30 per entree. it's not as good as i would have expected, but i went a few years ago, so maybe it's better now. you'll be good in a coat & tie, but if you don't want to wear that keep it on the high end of stylish (ie no ripped jeans, even if they're $150).

Agreed. Entrees are good, but not $20-30 good.

On the plus side, the interior design is very nice. You feel like you're under the sea - they'll be no accusations, just friendly crustaceans...under the sea...

If you're going to spend that amount of money, might as well go to a universally acclaimed restaurant. Has been rated the best restaurant in the country and won world awards.

It's in Yountville, CA (i.e. Napa Valley)

It's called French Laundry. Be aware they have like a 4 month long waiting list.

I was going to go there a couple weeks ago while in Napa for a friend's wedding. The concierge at the Silverado Resort said he could get me in. I really, really didn't feel like spending another $100+ on dinner when the trip itself already cost an arm and a leg.
