Even with all the growth they're having, the wealth is staying among the wealthy and middle class folks, it's not spreading out into the villages at all, this is going to be one of the biggest issues in the long run.

Poverty is a huge problem in India, and since most farmers are so poor, they can get loans without putting up their farm for collateral. When their farms go south, their debts pile up and they commit suicide to erase their debts and their family can start anew.

Much of the city poverty could be reduced by paying people to keep the streets clean, especially in the large cities. There's so much trash everywhere and if the people living in the slums have money they can impove thier standards of living.

The United Kingdom I live in is supposedly a socialist system too, but it's still a capitalist nation. In this country those farmers would've been given a small amount of money per week to make sure they can get by until they find a better source of income.

I don't think India has a complete socialist system, like a country does not have a complete capitalist system. No, corporations are not necessarily evil, but the drive to profits can narrow their field of view. You are not in the shoes of these farmers and don't know what life they live. India has strong family values and traditions, and pride is something that is not taken lightly there, for better or worse, who knows.

What the hell are you talking about? Most of India is still considered a third world country. The parts of the country that are growing economically rapidly, have only been doing so since early 90's. 60% of its labor force is in agriculture. You're being short-sighted just by making that comment.

price floors, tariffs on foreign crops, farm subsidies; yes all these help farmers make more money than they deserve, and in turn they vote for the douchebags that support the laws.
