Well, it looks like my 8800GT isn't gonna cut it above 1600x1200...but not bad considering the settings used...better than my brief Crysis experience.

Lol at the 9800GX2...shows what happens when scaling doesn't work. :Q
"I can see why ATI rushed out a driver, they wanted to see X2 support, which is working thank gawd. On the other side of the scope from NVIDIA, we noticed that there is no fricking support for the 9800 GX2, which was an absolute disaster to watch, it literally was struggling even at the lowest resolutions. Multi-GPU gaming support .. we comment on it all the time."

Check out the HoCP review:
http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/...wxLCxoZW50aHVzaWFzdA==

They say they used the hotfix but couldn't get the scaling to work...while Guru3D and PCGamesHardware both do...hmmm...I wonder why? :confused:

He actually called a member a douche? wtf?

EDIT: Another review

They do some CPU testing too.

Crytek, this is how a graph should look! Damn nice to see the GTX/Ultra able to pull decent numbers. I think we have an engine ready for adoption.

Article comments on 9800GX2 scaling, an 8800 GT beat it out in all cases. On the flipside, GT loses a lot of ground to GTX at high res. The 260/280 scores well against 4870 X2. Time for an X2 price drop?

Looks like we have another battleground title. Let's see how it's used in months to come.

9600GT and 4830 playable at 16x12!!! Very nice!!!! It's good that a Juggernaut PC is not needed to play this game at high settings and decent resolution.

But then it doesn't look anywhere near Crysis.

Granted, sorry Crytek. You still deserve to be taken out back and beaten though.. :D

I bet Far Cry 2 looks better then Crysis if you take framerates into account, with a HD4830 giving playable framerates at even 1920*1200 or 1600*1200, with high/highest settings. Try that with Crysis :) Then try to get similar framerates as in Far Cry 2, and tell me which game looks better, I bet it won't be very different at all ...

I still say crysis. Farcry 2 looks decent but Crysis even on medium settings probably just as good. At high it would demolish farcry 2. At very high forget about it.

Worthy discussion once we get game in hands. Back to OP though... ;)

These are avg. framerates, right? I really wish they would do minimums. Because if the average fps for say the 4830 or 9600GT are @30, then framerates will most likely spend a good portion of their time below 30fps. Then again, these are pretty much the highest settings in the game, so color me impressed. 4xAA alone is noteworthy. I saw the demo of this at Nvidia Editors Day in May. The spreading fire and wind driven fire was a pretty cool addition to some realism.

My results:
* Average Framerate: 43.29
* Max. Framerate: 61.04
* Min. Framerate: 31.69

At 1680X1050, maximum quality, no AA, (ranch small). But, there is a problem: the game microstutters so badly, that I find it unplayable. Something is terribly wrong, maybe with the driver or something.

Hmm which one to believe this or the other review site? Only way is to get Far Cry2 now and check myself.
i tend to agree with the poster at HardOCP .. not KyleB who called the unbelievers "douches"

Nice to see my old 8800GT should still play well with FarCry 2. I'll gladly sacrifice the Crysis eye-candy (that I can't even fully utilize anyway) for a still good looking game that plays well.

I'm getting the same severe stuttering. FPS in DX10 is better (according to the benchmark at least), but the game stutters so badly that it's almost unplayable. Everything's just fine in DX9 though.

@error8
that's with DX9 or DX10?

That is in DirectX 10. I don't want to play it in dx 9, since I have a frickin' directx 10.1 card! I'm so disappointed....but I don't even know who to blame for this. Must be the morons from ATI's drivers department.

Not really ocguy, those are avg's, whose to say how minimum and max look like. But then again, the HD4870X2 seems to be bottlenecked by the CPU at 1920*1280, same for the gtx280 ...

I don't know I play ultra eye candy which looked worse than Crysis high settings and I was pulling only 32fps on my massive overclocked 8800gs while I was getting 36fps with Crysis. :(

Just noticed this at the end of the review: "we received some questions regarding asking the nature of the lag we had with the ATI drivers. The lag that I described boils down to minor video stutters during the timedemo runs. It's a fraction of a second and a lot less noticeable in the actual gameplay itself."

"Boils down to minor stutters" my ass. It's all over the game and it's killing the gameplay....
