FarCry DVD Install locks and pauses Machine- works now

As you may or may not have read in an earlier post I just got my new machine up and running. All basic work is done but now when installing me games I tried FarCry it takes for ever while locking some of my programs loading the autorun. From that point while installing or running it puases and starts till eventually it stops even trying to copy anything makeing it impossible to install. I have tried installing other DVD games and they work fine to install but this is painful. Any suggestions.

i have the cd version and it works flawlessly.

Farcry has trouble with some DVD drives - I believe it has some issues with a Pioneer DVR105 but I dont know which others. I know if you visit the Crytek forums you can find if your drive is one of them. I had to copy the image to my HD to play it.

Have you updated the firmware on your drive?

I had a similar problem with my Far Cry dvd. My drive is a Toshiba, and I even updated firmware, but it mattered not a bit. The installation failed numerous times, but inexplicably worked eventually.

I did a good bit of searching the topic online and never found useful info at the time

Yeah still a bit sluggish when it starts but after 10+ times of failing, I have been able to install twice (I recommend not installing the 64bit 1.32 patch) without issues. Thanks you guys.
