I had problems even with my Nvidia, level loaded then crash to desktop. My fix was to reinstall Patch 1.1 and that worked and I'm back in the game.

I have been using this patch for three weeks, flawlessly.

I don't really car that it doesn't work for ATI cards. The only mistake I see them having made is not labelling it the "nV40 patch" and telling everyone else not to bother.

The game run great on 1.1 for ATI, so I don't see them needing it patched?

i think that is a a great suggestion but probably a little too close to an admittance of impropriety with regards to an nvidi/crytek relationship (even if such a history as theirs has already made it clearly obvious). Instead they obviously chose to let ATI owners burn while they have fun romping around together.

WTF are ATI users installing this patch for?! Did they think they could "force" their ATI cards to obey and run 3.0? I dont understand why people do the things they do.

LOL

lemme get this straight...you've never installed a patch for a game that 'seemed' to run perfectly?

Did you read the change log for the patch? There's a hell of a lot more in there than just SM 3.0 support.

This is another thing I don't get- who cares if they have a financial relationship. For those of you too young to remember, back in the day, you had a 3dfx card and Glide or you were screwed.
To a much, much lesser degree, there was S3s "MeTAL".

I think nVidia would be smart to bring that kind of thing back- especially Glide. (which was kind of a proprietary Open GL)

You want them to go back to proprietary 3D standards? Or to making games that only work well on one company's hardware?

What kind of crack have you been smoking this week, and where can I get some? :p

wow, yea I was disappointed when Glide started to fall off the map. It made everything so much smoother.
BUT, I have to say that I'd prefer to play games that are not endorsed by a particular company because I don't want to be 'forced' to buy certain hardware in order to enjoy a great game. That is what separates the pc world from the console world. that's what makes the pc world special in my opinion. I don't have to own an nvidia card to run Knights of the old republic...

LOL how funny and predictable. This is the same guy who jumped up and down screaming about Valve, ATi and "Shady Days". The double standard just never ceases to amaze me.

Glide was teh roxor, I assume nVidia owns the tech now.

As much as that would break my heart to be able to buy cards that ran games a lot better than all the other cards, I would be willing to bear that burden for mankind.

That is the kind of guy I am.

Odd, the 1.2 patch works just fine for me. I never played the game with the 1.1 patch though so I can't compare the two.

Let me ask you all a question: what's a normal fps for this game with my rig? Game is at 1024x768x32 with 2xAA/8xAF, high video quality settings, Vsynch off, with the 9800P clocked at 399/351? Most of the time it seems like a frame limiter is running and keeping the fps at 43!?! Indoors it goes up to 85 and stays there. Weird...

Most people have a problem when the 1.2 patch is installed over the 1.1 patch. The majority of problems I see the the Farcry forums are sound related.

Ahh, excellent. The 1.2 patch was applied over a fresh install of the game. And the sound seemed ok to me. I guess I can continue to use it.

oldfart, have any input on the fps weirdness?

LOL let me bend it for you...Why would I install a patch to correct nvidia/crytek problems if I owned an ATI card? Makes no sense. Especially when my (hypothetical) ATI card runs the game just fine. I am one of those, "if it aint broke dont fix it" guys. Thats like installing an nvidia driver for an ATI card and complain that it doesn't work.

Yes, I am. Is that a problem? I used it in MOHAA (first game I tried with the new card/CAT4.7 combo) and it played well....

keysplayr2003, as another post already stated, there was more to the 1.2 patch than adding SM3.0 support. If you didn't have any issues to correct that's cool but many others did.

Nope, sorry I didn't read the change log. I am a computer geek, but not that much of a geek to dig into that stuff for a good 'ol read. :) My bad.

You know, your right. I don't know why I am even getting involved in this. I don't own a 6800 or X800.
Hope you all get it resolved soon.

If he's using Temporal AA, it's probably forcing on VSync (at least, that's what I remember them saying it would do. I still have to get around to installing the 4.7 drivers.) But TAA doesn't limit you to 60FPS.
