Far Cry with HDR...where is it?

Well, i have the 1.3 patch, and when i try running it in HDR, it doesnt...it says it is, but isnt. There is no extra eye candy/framerate loss, and i wonder what is happening.

It also said it had Geometry instancing on, Sm3.0, and...something else...oh yeah, vegetation sprites draw distance to 100 or something...

none of these do anything...i put in the commands like i was told to. Why is it doing this to me (i want far cry to look pretty!)?

You drop down console and enter correct cmd (aint got it to hand).

Its 1-14 with 7 being the rec settting, try 14 and it should look totally bright and crap, at least you know its working.

I think you also have to have a bunch of the video settings at "very high" -- not sure if it is all of them.

I think a 6600 gt would get beat down by HDR with high settings...at least out on the water in a battle. Your frames will really drop.

Don't even bother with a 6600GT... it beats the hell out my old 6800GT with it on.

I can't get it to work either, I have a 6200 w/ TurboCache 256MB. My card sucks but HDR should work with all 6x00 cards, and I've tried everything and it still doesn't work. I'm pissed. :|

Yeah, I tried fiddling with FarCry to get HDR running, but it didn't, so I didn't bother.
On a side note, I turned HDR on in Splintercell Chaos Theory and it looks great.

Even if HDR worked with your 6200TC, your games with HDR on are going to run like a slideshow.

Farcry HDR needs the lighting quality set to very high or whatever the maximum is.

It runs well if you are willing to compromise on resolution and other stuff. It stays above 50fps at all times during most maps on my 6800GT (414/1104mhz) if I turn the resolution down to 1024x768, turn off AF and decrease the shadow quality and a few other things.

The 6200s don't have support floating point framebuffer needed to enable the HDR used in games like Far Cry and Splinter Cell 3.

Because of the way AA and HDR work - HDR is applied in the pipeline, AA is currently done to the entire frame at a time, I guess these two things just don't go together... and never will unless AA is applied by the game engine, from what I have read...

Thanks, would the X850 XT PE work with Splinter Cell in enabling HDR?

Nope, no floating point framebuffer support on anything but the 6600, 6800 and 7800.

One of the guys from Nvidia said something basicly to that effect a in an interview a while back; but rumor has it that the part of the r520's huge transistor count is dedicated to overcoming that complication, so we may well see Far Cry style HDR with hardware AA whever the new ATI chips show up.

That would be nice.
