Look at my sig below to see my system specs.

When I am running Far Cry @ 1280x1024 and all the details on very high I notice quite a bit of mouse lag and chop. I thought a 9800pro would easily do that on far cry. What is the bottleneck on my system? Should Far Cry be running faster?

Memory. It needs 600 meg just for the game. I am usually running at 700-730 meg only running windows 2k and Far Cry. Upgrade the memory, and you will see a big difference.

With this game, a gig really helps! I've never experienced choppiness or stuttering, but then, I've only ever run it on a gig of RAM.

Definitely go with the 1GB if possible.
Also, I find that with to get good fps w/my 9800P it's either 1024x768 with AA/AF (set in game) or 1280x960 w/o AA/AF, any addition of either of those 2 really creates some choppy conditions in places.

My 2.4B / 1GB XMS / GF4 4600 / Win2k are really crippled when trying to play at 1024x768 / 2xAA full detail.
I guess it's time for some new ATI action! ;)

Even with 1 GB your card wont stand much of a chance against Far Cry @ Full everything.

its the blinkenlights!

nah it's probably mostly your ram and a little your cpu. I wouldnt be too surprised at it feeling laggy at a high res with everything on high, would you be surprised if D3 / HL2 ran like that? FC is a next gen game engine too :)

there's a benchmark for FC in that benchemall
