In the specs for SM3.0 i believe it is. However Far Cry is not a native SM3.0 game so they cant incorporate all ythose features in it without rebuilding the entire 3d engine (i think thats what they would have to do).

I'm not referring to Far Cry. D3D Rightmark Link is a diagnostic, benchmark tool. I'm looking at the Direct3D information.

RefRast under HOS lists N patches, RT Patches, Bezier curves and B-splines and Displacement Mapping supported under DX9, however my hardware device shows <! No Hardware HOS support>. I know N-patches(truform) and RT Patches aren't supported, but I thought Displacement Mapping was supported (I can't recall Bezier Curves and B-splines support)? Whats the deal?

Well, I know that in 1.1 on "Realistic" - yes, I'm suicidal - the MP5 hasn't gotten touched thus far. If I'm ever in close enough quarters to consider it, I just whip out the P90 and take down the majority of the crowd with a full-clip dump, then switch to an assault rifle to nail any stragglers.

some reason i cannot load regulator, get an error message saying could not load forklift

Same thing happened to me. I had to back up to the Rebellion before I could get a map to load. Had me totally irritated at first because when I went to my last saved point where I finally find Valleri, it would just kick me back to the desktop. I reloaded the game, re-downloaded the patch thinking something got corrupted. Then I just kept clicking back on saves util I got to where one would work again.

Same problem here.

eVGA 6800 GT
ForceWare 62.11
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

So, where is patch 1.21?

Edit: Supposedly, people are having better luck with installing 1.2 on a fresh install of FarCry as opposed to upgrading from 1.1, such as I did.

Forget that... I'm not re-installing. Who does Crytek think is going to upgrade to 1.2, the people who didin't bother with the last update?

so far so good, 🙂

I am using the 61.71 SM3.0 driver, SP2 RC2 with dx9.0c, and the patch. I have the sm30 beta enabled and the performance is stellar. definitly made purchasing a 6800 ultra worth my money, 🙂

Is the SM3.0 beta not enabled by default? What do I need to do to enable it?

Edit: found it... r_sm30path=1

Im starting to think...up up... yeah there it is!

The crashes are likely because of the god damn orginal saves! I think we have to start from scratch and delete our FC profiles.

found a way around the forklift error, make another profile and load the map from console

seems easier than a re-install 🙂

*EDIT*

there are places where i am hitting 150 fps @ 1600x1200 noAA/ 4XAF avg FPS so far is in the 60's

to me 16x12 noAA/4xAF seems to look better than 1280x960 with 4xAA/4XAF(other than a few close up jaggies)

LOL you beat me by 2 minutes...once i loaded it up i just HAD to play it some! 😉

*EDIT* it is kind of annoying that ultra high water quality forces 4XAA

Quick question...

I can enable the sm30 path by editing the target of the FarCry icon to "C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" "r_sm30path 1", correct?

So, does this patch not work if you only have DX 9.0b or is it that only the SM3.0 stuff won't work unless you have DX 9.0c? I'm confused... 😕

I know that but I saw an earlier comment about this patch needing DX 9.0c. Is it that the entire patch relies on the DX 9.0c or just the SM3.0 stuff.

Let me rephrase it. Will Far Cry 1.2 play on my computer if all I have is DX 9.0b?

Nevermind, the readme says the game will run on Win98SE. I think I'm gonna give the patch a go.

It should look just like this in "target"

"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Crytek\Far Cry\Bin32\FarCry.exe" -DEVMODE "r_sm30path 1"
