Far Cry on Vista anyone? (having issues!)

I've googled for the solution, but can't find one...

I'm trying to run in XP compatability mode as well, but all I see is the splash screen and then black screen and FarCry is taking up about 50MB of memory -but no game!

HELP!

You tried selecting "run as Admin" too in properties of the game?

Btw posting your hardware specs like what video card, drivers you are using would help too .

I have no problems running Far Cry on Vista. I am running an eVga 8800GTS with Forceware 158.24, 32 bit, and an E6600 Core2 at stock w/2 GB ram. I do not need to run in XP compatibility mode.

I do understand however, that certain hardware combinations may be problematic. What hardware are you running?

You tried running it not in Xfire? Also What version of vista 32 or 64?

wow - so on a whim, i tried Windows 98/Me compatability and I can get to the intro screen and settings! 😱

I'm so excited!

haven't played yet, so we'll see what happens next!!!

You may want to try Catalyst version 7.4. You would have to, of course, uninstall the 7.5 version first, although I understand that that 7.5 is suppose to be less problematic with crossfire...but you never know til you try.

You've got a potent system there - should run smooth as butta if you can get it to work! The Sigmatel sound system should be Vista compatible so I see no problem there. You might also try running with just a single video card to see if that will work.

well, the full cutscene runs at the beginning - which I forgot how amazing that was!!!

but the load screen for the first level starts and gets to about 3% loaded and then stops... FarCry.exe is using only 75MB of memory too 🙁

I remember playing Far Cry (well, the demo) in Vista 64-Bit Beta 2, on my X1900XT, so I can't see why it wouldn't work now.

Single X1900XT

That was about a year ago, on the beta 2 OS and beta drivers... so I would have thought everything would be ironed out by now.

bummer - i hate thinking of taking out a video card to play a game...

AMD's response was "This isn't a video card problem, try calling Microsoft or the game vendor for help" 😱

Hello,
I too am having problems running Far Cry on Vista. I can install the game, I get the fly through menu, then The first sewer level is entirely blew and I can't see anything! If I play with the settings I can get some rendering-but no ground surface or water.
Please help if you have any sugestions.

Dell Inspiron 1520
Intel Dual Core 2 T750
3 GB Ram
Nvidia 8600MGT

my problems went away when i upgraded to my 8800GTX, maybe try the latest BETA drivers from nVidia's website?
