Ok..... I'll list my computer specs I think may be important, if I miss something, let me know.

Asus A8V Deluxe
AMD Athlon64 3200+
1 GB Corsair XMS
nVidia 6600 GT

Latest drivers for vid card.

In game, I have all the settings at max, except ani-aliasing. Screen res at 1280x1024 32. I figured I could get away with everything high, but I still get lag in game. Any suggestions?

TIA

set the color depth to 16, and OC the video card, don't forget to use tweaked Omega drivers to get nicer results

Thanks for the info! I need you to clarify a little bit on the tweaked Omega drivers. I'm not big into OC'ing and tweaking, but I'd like to learn more for things like this!

Thanks Again!

high at 1280 might be a little rough with a 6600 gt. keep it at 32 bit color, 16 is eww.

I tried installing the Omega drivers, and upon restart got a blank screen and a messge that my moniter was running out of a range that it can handle. I restarted in safe mode, uninstalled Omega drivers, and re-installed drivers from nVidia..... I can see again! :)

I am out of time for tweaking tonight.... gotta work in the am!

Thanks again for the input!

For a 6600GT, you might want to consider a res no higher than 1152x864 or 1024x768 if you're also MAX'ing out the graphics options.

if you have a high dot pitch on a monitor, 16-bit vs 32-bit will be less noticable, i.e. - LCD's 'n laptop displays

32-bit color is pretty much free on newer cards

Do you have the latest Farcry patch? The textures in mine were going krazy kolors until I got the patch, which fixed it.

I'd also say patch the game if you haven't already and try running at a lower res or lower the detail level. The 6800GT I had oced to Ultra speeds was just barely smooth as butta at those settings with a little AA/AF thrown in. Might be too much for your card.

I was playing with the patch when I wrote the original message.
I just lowered the res a bit and things seem pretty ok now. Still some minor lag every now and then..... Guess I need to look into oc'ing the card! :)

Thanks for all the input!

I get lag sometimes in Far Cry with everything on Very High w/ AA, and AF on high, I must need something better than an X850 XT PE to play smoothly with these settings.

Far Cry was made way ahead of it's time.
