Far cry issue

I downloaded the demo and I was amazed by the graphics of this game. This year began sooo well. 😀
Anyway I ran the game on my rig (2.8c 512 pc3200 and 9800pro), runs satisfactory at 12x10 (about 41fps with all candy on).
My problem is that I can't set texture filtering more than "medium".Everything else is set to very high and I'm wondering what might be the issue here.I change it restart and back to medium.
Omegas 3.10 and everythings set to application reference.Any ideas?

thats just the way the demo is setup, if you want better filtering you should force it in the d3d control panel for your drivers.

Yes I forced AF at D3D, as well as AA.But I'm curious why I can set anything else to very high except this one that just stays to medium.

My Texture Filter Quality only goes up to Medium and my Lighting Quality only goes up to High.

I wish someone would tell me, what many of these things do. I don't notice any shadow or lighting or particle difference and Texture Filter is questionable.

I don't know why that happens. As Snowman said you can force the features through control panel or software.
I just find very odd the fact that I can't enable them through setup.Maybe it's a bug,after all it's only a demo.

When developers put out an Internet demo they frequently put in half detail textures to decrease download size. This might explain why the slider only goes up to medium as there is only a medium detail texture there at best.

I got some major pixelization and other issues on the character models pushing 4xAA/8xAF in the D3D panel.

But, yeah, cool looking game. Wish they came out with these games earlier so we could actually put some use to our hardware.

Playing UT2k3 at 80FPS with max everything is simply no fun any more. I would enjoy however a game with higher details and with a stronger graphics engine playing 1024 x 768, than Ut2k3 with 4x/16x @1280 x 960.

Yes, the demo would be more than 0.5gb 😕
Thank you very much I think I can deal with it.. 😀

Well everyday we ask for some real stuff to test our gpus. We might as well face and accept the consequenses of bringing a game like far cry to the surface. (and our system to its knees) 😉
I myself prefer to see a game like this, playable at 40-50fps rather than a mediocre one at 80fps.
And this is a REAL reason to o/c my gpu for the first time.
