Far Cry for PC $9.82 at wal-mart

I saw this at BM today for 9.99 in a jewel case, full game though.
It is also available online for 9.82 plus shipping & tax.
One of the best fps ever made imho.
Still looks great even by todays standards.
 
I'd prefer just to buy it at Direct2drive for $9.99

Isn't Far Cry ALWAYS $9.99 ? Are you sure this is a better deal than usual?
 
Great game, especially the early levels in the jungle. AI is still the best I've seen in a FPS.

what so special about Far Cry? is the GFX is superior to the new games? What was the best Game for this year, at E3?
 
it just has uber textures and HDR (with patch). plot gets really strange in the game....so i kinda quit after that. multiplayer sucks. good thing it was included free w/ video card and i didn't have to pay anything.

Try it for 10 bucks you wont be disappointed. I would say the graphics are pretty much equal to any fps out right now, but in 2004 they were awesome. Not sure what this years best game supposedly was but I cant wait for Crysis to come out the screenshots are sweet. Definitely time to upgrade my hardware when DX10 arrives!

Wow... okay it's older (like around Doom 3 and HL2 era) but the gfx still rock and like said before the AI is great. Pretty tough game and a decent amount of gameplay.

At the time of its release it was called the best single player FPS game EVER by gamespot. Now maybe Call of Duty 2 or Half Life 2 are better, but Farcry is still a great game.
 
I enjoyed it. Unlike doom or quake 3 (and even more than half life 2) it is truely open - none of these invisible boxes you can't jump blocking your path. Also a great run and shoot game - very good user interface. Hum. And the sp is fairly long (unlike call of duty 2) though the plot is a bit strange = just ignore the plot 🙂
 
Multiplayer in Far Cry sucks. Even with a fast connection, opponents move jerkily across the screen and it lags pretty bad. Never bothered with single player since I'm all about the multi.
 
This is a great deal on a great game. Multiplayer can be a bit dodgy, but get into a low-ping server and you are set. (Low ping means <70ms). The "Assault" style of gameplay is amazingly fun. If you do buy the game there are patches that you need as well as a few map packs for the MP. The map packs can be gotten at farcry-maps.com

ubi.com for the patches.
 
This is a GREAT game. I would have to say in my top 5 all time games list. What makes this game unique is the open environment. You don't have to go on a set path. I have replayed it several times and try different things each time. There is even a 64bit version you can download and play if you have a 64bit OS. Graphics are awesome!
 
Yes, the game is great. Graphics are still look good. I'm still playing it... granted I started playing it a month ago.

I saw it at Walmart last week at the Monrovia, CA store when I was looking for the PS2 cam. No cams on sale but I did see two copies of FarCry in a bare double-cd case.
