Just completed the game. The final levels were pretty gauntlet-oriented but it was one heckuva fun journey. 8/10.

IIRC there were some comments from those who didn't understand the ending. What about it? Seems pretty clear to me.
 
Yep, I expected that the ending would be that way.

I barely remember the details now coz I completed it about the 4th week of its release 🙂
 
FC's gameplay, AI, level-design, and gfx are top notch.

The story, cutscenes and voice acting is terrible. The plot is ridiculous with HUGE gaps in logic and story . . . . and lack of anytime save is criminal.

While the acting and such isn't so hot, this is a game, not a movie; the sum total of <5 minutes of it didn't, imo, detract from this awesome title at all. The quicksave/load fix is so simple and has been known so long, including many references in this forum, I'm amazed there are still people who don't know about it. Click me

I like some of the conversations they have when you're looking through the binocs at them, "I'm going to cut off his head and drink his fluids" cracks me up every time :laugh:

i know every quicksave method known . . . . i recently started this thread: Far Cry is in the Bargain Bin; $19.99 everywhere!

unfortunately none of them are "perfect" and what i am bitching about is that there is no official quicksave patch even though the developers promised it a year ago. That said, i played FC thru Swamp using checkpoints only when it glitched repeatedly at the very end of the level without saving and i installed the "cheats". 😛

i think the plot was horrible - even for a game . . . . made much worse by an illogical ending. Did they even THINK about it?

STOP READING if you don't want to know what i hate about the end . . .

Suddenly - at the end - Jack becomes "superman" . . . . gets shot-up with drugs and bullets; runs from an atomic bomb blast and survives; is brilliantly successful then stupidly and unexplainedly captured; gets tossed out of a copter and survives an impossible fall but still has to fact the toughest opponents complete with ESP and dead-aim and then rescues Val "somehow" just in time.
(do you think they could have ALSO had a "count down" to his and Val's death to complete Volcano in a limited time before they fully tranformed - now THAT would be a challenge) 😛

even for a "game" the plot is TOO stupid . . . . it could have been 'fixed' SO easily . . . .; and this fault really detracts because FC (otherwise) is a really GOOD game!

The outlandish plot points are typical of most Hollywood action flicks, so they don't bother me at all. However one thing that bugs me about the end was why Doyle did not have a ready means of escape. It's a major letdown to let his wimpy scientist butt face you one-to-one. In fact, there aren't any satisfying one-to-one "boss" battles at all, except for that insane hiding-behind-tree shootout with Crow's helicopter.

The countdown idea would've been great to implement, for escaping the nuke as well as getting the serum. Come to think of it, even if transformed, we could still have an alternate pro-mutant ending with our green-hued Jack and Val a la Shrek! 😛

that shoot-out with Crowe's Helicopter had me going and going for quite awhile . . . . 😛

it's not that the plot is so outlandish . . . just so illogical with huge gaps . . . . kinda like Lost in Space's ending . . .

. . . a "WTF Ending"

Ending? I hardly remember the VERY ending All I remember is shooting somebody in a little room. I was so happy to beat the volcano its all I remember. I found that level very difficult.

Plus I had a copy D3 waiting, and I was anxious to play it. But that was then 😉


After I finish replaying PK & BOoh, I think I'm going back to replay FC
