According to someone on another forum, it was only supposed to be pulled from Steam's UK site, not worldwide. He spoke with Ubisoft technical support and they indicated it would be back on Steam US shortly.

Looks I can run it, now I just have to wait.

I don't buy Ubi games until people start dumping their gpu codes on ebay. Then you get 2-3 for <$20.

Far Cry 2 was the real turd of the series IMO.

Far Cry 1 isn't far behind. I remember being pissed because I couldn't run it smoothly. Story was fine until the monsters showed up. I think Far Cry 3 was definitely the best of the series, although once Buck and Vaas was gone the game wasn't as captivating. If Far Cry 4 is just Far Cry 3 in a new setting without having to save crappy friends I think I'll get my moneys worth at the launch day price. Looking forward to the freedom to explore and take down bases they way I want to do it.

Pulled worldwide now

Looks like they are going to do an EA. Can't blame them , they are big enough to live without steam

It will piss everyone off though

Crysis 3 being one of the engines it performed the worst in, it was 62% as fast as an i5.
However in both Tombraider and Bioshock it was as fast an i7.

http://www.techbuyersguru.com/haswellgaming3.php
Metro:LL again, just as fast as an i7.
Grid 2, 10% lower minimum FPS compared to i7.
Company of Heroes 2, just as fast as an i7.

http://www.techbuyersguru.com/haswellgaming4.php
Batman AO 83% as fast as an i7.
Battlefield 4, 84% as fast as an i7.
Thief 92% as fast as an i7.

Conclusion at the end is..

i3-4360 is 89% the speed of an i7-4790k for $191 less. That is a free video card right there.

I enjoyed Far Cry 3! It had enough random elements you could wander off from the story to do and you could approach different fights and encampments in fun and different ways. Far Cry 2 was the real turd of the series IMO.

Agreed, I liked FC3 and hated FC2, I liked the original too, but as mentioned above, it got a little strange with the monsters, but everything before that and the graphical fidelity at the time was amazing.

Man I'm looking forward to this. Loved FC3 and I loved FC2 as well, but mostly for multiplayer. Really enjoyed that a lot. FC2 single player was beautiful and I loved exploring the jungle, but the missions were pointless and lame, so it killed it. Still can't get over how much I enjoyed FC2 multiplayer though. Fantastic. That game had a wonderful color pallet and art direction that is just brilliant and made me love being immersed in the FC2 world. I even upgraded my GPUs for that game primarily.
I tried playing FC3 multiplayer, but the pings and lag were horrible, and the stupid game crashed after every single round like clockwork. It was a known bug for SLI users and I got tired of waiting for a fix, so very sadly, I never played FC3 multiplayer due to their unfixed bug.

And they're back...at least in the US. I already have Far Cry 3 and some Assassins Creed games in my Uplay account so it doesn't matter.

I dunno, I got a 7770 card... It played FC3 well. I like FC3... It reminded me of FC1, I guess I enjoy the bright sunny jungle look. I actually enjoyed the cell towers... :)

I hear that the Game Play in FC3 almost the same as in FC4. Doesn't bother me much. They added a lot to it. There won't be any Cell Towers... But instead it's going to be high buildings you need to unlock. I guess I enjoyed the Mushroom/weed burning missions. Looking forward to FC4.

So I'm thinking about getting an R9 video card.

The only words I have for Ubisoft at this point is "Don't let the door hit your %#$ on the way out".

Considering the amount of anti-consumer moves by Ubisoft, the forced linking to UPlay even when available on Steam, the uneducated and/or arrogant views towards PC gaming (24 FPS is enough because it is cinematic, HA %&$# you Ubisoft) and the declining quality (subjective view) of their main game franchises (Assassin's Creed), good riddance to leaving Steam. I hope it bites them in the revenues.

EA's Origin is still a inconvenience, in that you need more than one game client, but at least it is not as clunky as UPlay (not a high standard), and the games are actually compelling. And you occasionally get great games for free. I have avoided Origin so far but I guess I will need it for Battlefront 3.

EDIT: If they are back in Steam, pity.

gotta say though, i prefer Crysis to FC.

(please don't hit me)

I've been playing both the past few days. Maxed out they both run about the same, Crysis a little better, even with mods and some AA it runs and IMO looks better. FC has a more cohesive story and being more "grounded in reality" helps it too. I am having fun with FC3, will get FC4, I just don't see how they could screw it up, all the DLC BS aside.

I have not seen much change in FC3 going through high/very high/ultra other than the frame rate dropping.

I didn't read the entire thread but here is an article from early summer:

"Hutchinson has mentioned that in regards to Far Cry 4 on the PS4 and Xbox One, the studio was able to get it running at ultra high PC quality immediately.

Hutchingson goes further to explain that Ubisoft wants the experience to be the same across all platforms. This news has prompted concerns within the PC community with many fearing a similar situation will occur to the recent disappointment experienced with Ubisoft’s latest hit title “Watch Dogs” where graphical potential of the PC game was reduced from the glamorous pre-sale promotional footage which was shown at the 2012 E3.

Although there is a difference this time. The difference is that there was no glamorous footage to stir up PC gamers expectations. What we saw at this years E3 is supposedly what will be released for PC, PS4 and the Xbox One universally minus slight graphical tweaks between the three and graphics controls for PC."

http://mrgamesofficial.com/far-cry-4-ps4-and-xbox-one-graphics-to-be-equivalent-with-pc-ultra-high/

I have super low expectations regarding technical merits of AC Unity and Far Cry 4 which looks more like a FC3 re-skin rather than a next gen Far Cry 4 game. Certainly all videos from AC Unity have not been impressive in the least in terms of technical merits/graphics. FC4 also hasn't wowed at all. Gameplay is another matter but most definitely neither of these titles pushes the PC technologically. Any performance hit on modern GPUs like 290X/780Ti and older gen CPUs like i5 2500K will come entirely from Ubisoft's lack of optimizations given their track record with previous AC and FC3. FC3 CF/SLI was basically broken for a long time in terms of micro-stutter / frame times while AC Black Flag ran like garbage given the level of graphics it had.

Looking forward to FC4. I loved FC and FC3. FC2 was 'meh' IMO. I've upgraded to 2 x 290x CF and a 34" 21:9 monitor so I am expecting some sweet awesomeness if FC4 is as good as FC3 was. Not pre-ordering though. I'll wait a couple of days and read some reviews first.

I bet it'll run on much lower than a GTX 460. Ubisoft and every other "big wig" publishing house has been posting stupidly high "requirements" as of late that are likely not at all accurate.

I'm beginning to think "climb up a radio tower" IS the main plot for all Ubisoft games and the rest just 'filler'...
