Far Cry 3 worse than Far Cry 2 graphics?

I only played the first Far Cry and skipped number 2 because I was playing other games. I also heard it was a really bad game.

Well I am looking at videos of Far Cry 2 and Far Cry 3... It is like day and night.

I don't think I have seen a game with better physics and destructible environments than Far Cry 2 judging from videos. It beats BF3 and Crysis in my opinion.

Far Cry 2:

You walk through a plant or bush and all the leaves flatten and move apart. Good sound effects too!

You set a fire and it spreads all around and catches the trees on fire. Then they get charred and the leaves fall off.

Shoot at trees and the branches come off.

Even the smallest things are destructible like a light.

Grenades blow up certain buildings (Crysis has this) and BF3 as well.

It doesn't look like Far Cry 3 had any of this. Very disappointing for a 2012 game. I was originally gonna get it with the first Never Settle bundle when I wanted 7950 but I waited. It does not look like I missed much.

no idea what video you watched, but when I played far cry 2 at release, it was far from the initial clips released up to that point in time. Fires only burnt a small area and the logic behind somethings just had me pulling out my hair.

overall, farcry2 was a massive let down vs the pre-release videos.

no idea on #3 as #2 tainted my opinion of the game series. From what I have noticed from players, in a lot of waits skiping #3 is a good idea, but I might still buy it once it gets down to $10 as some people are enjoying it. that being said, it is currently $70US for me via steam (Australia).

far cry 2 looks way better. physics are unreal. no game comes close to that.

Everyone says gameplay sucks so I wouldn't buy it. The game is clearly physics king and had some of the best graphics at the time.

WTF, FC3 was one of the best games of 2012. As far as the graphics go they are alright, nothing mind blowing but the gameplay and story are fantastic. If you haven't played it yet I would suggest getting it ASAP.

One of the best parts of the story are the villains, especially Vaas and how throughout the story your character actually evolves into something else.

This was one of the best gaming moments for me in 2012.
**SPOiLERS** One of the missions in FC3 is too burn the pirates weed plantations and as soon as you get to the destination Skrillex comes on with "Make it Bun Dem." I was so hyped throughout that mission lol.**SPOILERS**

Far Cry 2 smokes Crysis and Far Cry 3 (no physics). I would say Far Cry 2 graphics are just as good as Crysis.

I think the graphics and physics are very underrated. Everyone talks about Crysis but this game looks unbelivable. These are compressed youtube videos too.

I thought Far Cry 2 looked amazing, and yes it had better physics than Far Cry 3. I do think the graphics of Far Cry 3 have the edge, but not by a whole lot and they aren't as clear and crisp looking as far cry 2. Far Cry 3 is an amazing game and much better gameplay than far cry 2 for sure.

well I think that's pretty lame. Far Cry 3 uses the same engine but 'updated.' So slightly better graphics but no physics. That is really bad for 2012 and no real leap from 2008.

If you want destructible environments, good graphics, good physics and pure destruction fun you should check out Red Faction Armageddon and Red Faction Guerrilla.

The only problem is that you need Lynnfield grade IPC at 4Ghz in order to keep a steady 60fps (and a good graphics card of course).

I recorded the second one with a camera, since it was a benchmark, sorry.

FC3 was a much better game than FC2, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Even though the graphics are not amazing they are certainly good enough not to detract from the experience.

And as someone above mentioned, the section that had Skrillex playing was awesome... and that's the kind of music I usually hate.

FC3 was a game I'm glad I purchased, as I was adamant I was going to avoid it after the disappointment I had with FC2

From videos though it seems like Far Cry 3 is a step back in terms of graphics and physics which is very sad.

I would hope games coming out would be better than games 4 years ago. Only a few games have really done well in graphics.

Crysis 2 modded.
Witcher 2 ubersampling. I don't really like art style or the game itself but it does look good.
Shogun 2 Total War for RTS graphics.
Battlefield 3.

Physics in games have been around a long time but it looks like Far Cry 2 holds the throne.

Far Cry 2 best physics overall.
Company of Heroes best RTS physics.
