1080p, 4xMSAA+A2C (alpha to coverage=transparency AA - label in the graph is incorrect):

Core scaling. A X6 1100T can do 47fps, the 3570K is at 62fps (from the text in the article).

Why is it we can't ever seem to get info like this in English? Separate CPU and GPU benchmarks are extremely helpful in deciding upgrades.

So, DX10/10.1 cards are locked to DX9 mode. I don't get this, even FC2 had DX10/10.1 support, with better performance than DX9.

It also mentions that DX11 multithreaded rendering is supported, but was turned off during their tests because it could cause crashing

Ack, was hoping to see the 7850 in there as well. However, 7850 or 7870, I'll be out of date right after upgrading. Joy :)

A review version with no driver for both manufacturers. The game will be launched on DEC 4TH so it feels it has plenty of time to released new drivers.

Man, there are a lot of demanding games coming out. Finally!

5850 is doing pretty well for an older card..

those are horrible results considering they officially said there would be very little graphical difference between the console and pc versions.

DX10 only had better frame rates than DX9 on certain settings. and in the real world, DX10 was stuttery even when it was making those higher framerates.

I was hoping to kind of destroy this game. Looks like I can settle for maybe 50fps-ish? Crazy.

I find it interesting that a six core performs slightly better than a four core cpu, even though the difference is small. Maybe we might start see a shift in games utilizing 4 cores and 6 cores computers.

Maybe the game is using all 4 cores in the 6-core system and the other 2 cores are processing the operating system overhead where as in the 4-core system maybe all 4 cores are fully used and the slight performance decrease could be due to the operating system overhead? That little bit of difference between the 4-core and the 6-core system seem like it's only because of operating system overhead. Even then at least it shows that games are now starting to saturate 4 cores.

I'm not sure what you mean there. The DX10 path ran faster than the DX9 path across the board, and I never observed any stuttering problems when I played the game from start to finish.

Far Cry 2 is actually a good poster-child for DX10 performance.

The problem is that a high-end Intel dual-core with HT is probably faster than that six core processor.

At the end of the day IPC is still more important than the number of cores you throw at the problem.

there was some review that covered DX9 vs DX10 at more than just ultra and DX10 was not always faster. I believe it was the settings below very high that ran better in DX9. and the game is well known for the stuttering issues in DX10 at least near release so maybe you played it much later. I certainly remember having to play in DX9 for the best smoothness even though the framerate was a few fps slower than DX10. and I remember the tons of comments and some fixes to help out at that time. you can just google and see for yourself if you still doubt me.

Perhaps it was due to early driver issues or something? I don't remember any stuttering issues from when I played it

Here's some tests for DX9 vs DX10 anyway
