Wow, this looks ****ing cool!

Edit: Standalone game. You don't have to own Far Cry 3 to play it.

Released late last year, Far Cry 3 was a stunning open-world experience that rightly received plenty of plaudits. Now, the first-person shooter is getting a hefty standalone expansion titled Blood Dragon.

However, the spinoff has no ties to the original game. Inspired by cyberpunk and cheesy vintage action flicks, it takes place in a post-apocalyptic world in the aftermath of a nuclear war, where an army of cyborgs have invaded and assumed control of the island.

As part-human, part-machine Rex Colt, voiced by Terminator star Michael Biehn, you must put a stop to the cyber-soldiers' insidious plans.

i just heard about this today from a co-worker. I will have to reinstall far cry 3 for this. So cheesy and over the top, in other words... awesome!

I wouldn't say this is cyberpunk at all but straight up 80's Sci-Fi. It totally looks awesome.

Also, it's completely stand-alone from Farcry 3 so you don't need it to play this game.

At first I was like eek and the I was like...wooo purrty colors.

So basically, you looked like this:

Just like the FarCry 3 Never Settle code, isn't this code going to be limited to uPlay though? :\

Yeah, but even if you bought Far Cry 3 through Steam, it still required uPlay. Basically if you own a new Ubisoft title through Steam, you're subjecting yourself to 2 layers of DRM with none of the benefits of Steam since they don't utilize Steamworks in any way.

I've had to use uPlay in the past with Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (when played through Steam), but that was just some sort of launcher-like thing. Isn't uPlay now a lot more like Steam and Origin? I really just don't want another game-on-demand service running on my PC.

Ubisoft actually has done something interesting with Uplay. They made 2 different versions of it. There is the one you can go and download and use as a store/client and the other is for Ubi games sold on Steam which just has the client to launch the game through Uplay, they removed the store from that version.

Is this already out ? There are videos on youtube of people playing the game.

Comes out at the end of the month. Russian hackers were able to somehow break into Ubi's system and download the game off of their servers early and they leaked it out online of course.

Gotta be bummed about that if you're Ubisoft.

There's basically 2 uPlay apps. One is just the DRM layer that loads automatically when you buy (and load) the game via steam. The other is the full blown Steam-like app that you use if you got it from anywhere other than steam.

edit: should have kept reading, KaOTiK already explained

Ahh okay, and this game is separate from FarCry 3 right? It sounded like an expansion at first, but the wording on websites makes it sound completely separate.
