I'm liking what I see, my only problem is they've seemed to have done away with the minimal ui that I liked in FC2.

I think it's unfortunate that people are judging Far Cry 3 based on their experience with Far Cry 2.

Your opinion on Far Cry 3 shouldn't be based on Far Cry 2. Your opinion of Far Cry 3 should be based on Far Cry 3.

I read IGN's review and they gave it high marks (9.0)except they said the Co-Op portion of the game had some silly mission design choices. They said the open world lends itself to unpredictable encounters with enemies and the characters are really well done.

Looking forward to this

Have you considered that something might have changed in 4 years

I wish I could play this but alas no console or decent PC hardware.

What else can we go on other than our own opinions of the series until the game is actually released? Even still, we'd be relying on others' opinions which may differ from ours, but if nobody feels like making a demo anymore that's the best we have.

Very much looking forward to it. I like far cry games simply for the graphics and fun style of gameplay. Can't go wrong on this one, although I fear it might kind of break my video cards and not get the high FPS I was hoping for.

I still remember the day that the demo of an unknown game with the name Far Cry was released. I found a link here at AT and downloaded. That WOW factor probably will never come again in a game (gfx speaking),but I'm really glad the maps look a lot like the original in some areas.. Can't wait for it to be released.. :)

Heh I had a similar experience myself when it brough my then mid range pc (Radeon 9600 Pro, lol) to its knees and blew me away with the graphics.
I didn't care for FC2 but I am pretty excited about 3, hope Ubisoft doesn't botch it.

The original Far Cry was one of those games I upgraded my PC for. It, Doom 3, and Half Life 2 all came out around the same time, and were all system killers.

Very true. I remember driving around in the boat being blown away.

Open world? Eh... will give it a shot, nonetheless.

Was truly hoping for a Far Cry 1-style SP campaign, in the vein of Crysis. Really enjoyed the story.

I, like pretty much everyone, hated the driving in FC2, but the game was otherwise fun for me. I found it kind of immersive at times.

This will be a first day purchase probably.

FC had brought my 9800pro to its knees back then at higher resolutions, but it was worth it 100%.

I'm much more older in computer industry, but it was a golden era for FPS wasn't it?

Very true. I remember driving around in the boat being blown away.

I remembered that I waited for a looong time for the demo (~500mb IIRC) to be downloaded in ISDN! But when the first scene into the boat was rendered in my screen I almost $hit pants :D

The water-ripple effect (while on the boat) causing your aim to go astray = blew my mind

Never played FC1 or 2 but I'm actually really looking forward to this release. Other than the Battlefield series I'm not really a huge FPS player but the open world style of this game really appeals to me. Reading all the reviews I can get my hands on and they're all pointing to a day 1 release from me.

There really is too much comparison to fc2 when from what I have seen it is not the same but pretty different.

no
not at all

never liked far cry games...

edit: yeah i suck huh? everyone will be excited for it... the only game i was excited about this year was darksiders 2... not even borderlands 2, not even diablo 3, not even torchlight 2, not even assassins creed 3, not even hitman, not even xcom, not even dishonored, not even max payne 3... damn, this year had some really important games released =P

Tried both the earlier ones. Could not get into either one. This game looks interesting, might buy it when it gets cheap.

Is farcry 3 a long story driven campaign like farcry 1 or is it some silly sandbox with stupid missions like farcry 2 ?

After playing DayZ and WarZ, I've had an itch to play an open world shooter. Too much grinding in Borderlands, and Fallout isnt really a shooter. Far Cry 3 is looking good...just need to find a deal.

Cheapest is $39 and $47 (Deluxe) so far.
