That is all. Really. I'm so glad that this was a pack in and not something I paid $ for.

Far Cry was more fun, and I'd even go as far as saying better looking. Back to playing BF2142, it's 3 years old and IT'S still more fun.
 
Yeah, and most everyone agrees Far Cry 2 sucks besides all the review sites and mags.
And i have no clue why. :roll:



 
Somewhere down the line it'll be $9.99 or $14.99 (or even a $4.99 special) on Steam; at that time I'll probably give it a try.

What's a PC gaming lifer's worst recent nightmare? Totally suck-ass consolized Far Cry 2 and FEAR 2.

What little faith I had left in PC gaming is almost gone. I probably won't even buy Dragon Age.
 
Between FarCry 2 and F.E.A.R. 2 however I'd gladly take FarCry 2.

But I agree that FarCry 2 could have been much better. To be honest I could have actual fun in FC2 if only there wouldn't be so many God damn mercenaries/fighters/soldiers (whatever you want to call them) outposts, and that outside of their actual number in the game world that they wouldn't re-spawn after around five to ten minutes, which is absolutely silly, that's due to the developers wanting to go with an arcade-like approach instead of a more "realistic" one (for example like S.T.A.L.K.E.R.).

There's one thing though... the Dunia engine has lots of potential, and if a full SDK can be made for FC2 I'm sure we could get very good mods for it that would suddenly propel its name back on track if not actually make it popular due to modding (like Oblivion and Fallout 3 for instance). Also the multi-player is horrendous, I certainly prefer playing TF2, L4D, Crysis Warhead and many others instead.
 
I disagree. It could use some improvements, but it does many things very well making it a great FPS experience.

Openess, Graphics, Weapons Characteristics, Ambience, Movement, and more.

The multiplayer is ESPECIALLY horrendous. FarCry was actually pretty fun to play online. Crysis too. Crytek's non-involvement with FarCry2 is painfully obvious.

Right now, I'm so enjoying BF2142. I found a server where RDX, grenades, even YOUR OWN ARTILLERY can not hurt you. I never knew you could use C4 to blow people up a few feet away 😛
 
I'm enjoying Far Cry 2, I agree with most of the review sites but can also see why people don't like it. I also love that it looks great and still manages to run damn well on my far from top of the line PC. If they release an expatiation I will buy it without a 2nd thought.

I don't like the turbo aways responding baddies, that is one of my biggest gripes, but there has never been a FPS that didn't have something I didn't like.
 
I didn't get very far into the game but the game setting is a fresh environment.

I enjoyed the time I spent playing it... kinda has some Rockstar / GTA style design flattery in it... safehouses etc etc... The map reminded me of GTA as well.

Still I think folks are overly critical the game runs butter smooth as well.
 
I actually liked the game too, but it did get a bit repetitive after awhile. This sums it up well: whenever my girlfriend would look over to see what i'm doing and FC2 was up she'd say, "oh, you playing the driving game again?"
 
i enjoy it.. i stopped playing much after i got back into wow after WOTLK came out but i though farcry 2 was aight. I liked the openness and having to find things to do.

Cool! Just thought I'll let you know, I played this Far Cry mod here (The Delta Sector) which is fantastic! You might want to give it a try after your done with the SP portion of Far Cry. 🙂

Last game reviewer to trash a Ubisoft game got fired. So either they got paid off or didn't spend enough time playing it. It starts off looking pretty, but the longer you play Far Cry 2 the worse it gets.

Sequel? i thought FC2 had absolutely nothing to do with FC thats the main reason i didnt even bother to care for that game, its just deceptive marketing

Correct! They should have named it differently. All things considered, I personally liked the game a lot, must have played like 4 times till now. I like the fact that I'm in trouble all the time😉.

BF2142 is a game I could never finish, I found it too damn boring, so I guess it's up to personal taste finally.

I don't get the point of the thread though, there are games that I like and games that I don't. I simply don't play the latter and don't waist precious gaming time complaining abt them:laugh:
