SD mod posted the deal without anything to back it up. Don't know where they got it, but they got it wrong.

Several folks had posted in that thread looking for substantiation, a link to an ad, something, anything. Glad I went to bed and got some sleep.

Buy.com has it for $99 plus FS. link

$99 after a rebate from Fantom, at Buy.com.

~$70 AR, maybe!, if you use 30% live.com cashback through ebay. Buy.com ebay purchases now work with live.com ebay discounts. Not sure I trust Fantom rebates (no experience).

Tiger cybermonday ad touts $70 savings on this model. That may be where the original poster on SD went astray.

Never heard of Fantom before. Anyone know of their reputation?

do a search and you'll find a lot of dissatisfied people. everything from welching on their rebates to selling 'new' items with refurbed drives inside, to horrible customer support.

my friend bought one from td a few months back. it arrived doa. at first i thought it was something else, but after a good deal of research i discovered a lot of others had similar issues

Thank you for the feed back.
Makes me want to wait a couple of months when reputable companies will offer a similar product at a better price. You can never go wrong on waiting for a better deal on HDD's - lol.
