defintely a good price, but the reviews on the net are somewhat discouraging with high failure rate and cheapest drives (many maxtors) inside. Best of luck to you!

Just an update. I finally took mine apart. Its a WD5000AAKS, with a warranty until 2010. Glad I jumped on this one.

I ordered one, should be here in a few days. I've heard reports of them using WD5000AAKSs, Samsung Spinpoint T drives (unsure what model), and another drive which I can't recall now...

In any case, the NewEgg reviews on the drive say the case is heavy (probably metal, that's good), and there are many 5s, which means that the drive is reliable (also good, for obvious reasons).

the case is pretty heavy. if it weren't for vibrations to the drive, I think it would handle a smack with a hammer without denting it.

Just got mine in too. Couldn't resist the urge to pop it open - mine's got a WD5000AAKS inside too. :thumbsup: I guess I broke the warranty seal opening it, though. Oh well.
